Abstract

223,715. Popper, O. Sept. 27, 1923. Vessels for carrying ships.- An arrangement for the transport of river craft over stretches of sea comprises a floating-dock 1 which below the freebcard line has the external form of an ordinary ocean-going vessel, the upper part being arranged as a platform for the river craft which during transport are situated above sea level. In operation, the dock is partly sunk and the river craft brought into position over the deck, water being then pumped out of the compartments of the carrier vessel. After transport the river craft are floated off by reversing the process.
