Description
CHOPPING BOARD.
This invention relates to a kitchen utensil, a chopping board.
Chopping boards are at present essentialy made of wood, and are flat.
They sometimes have a picture on one side for decoration and are plain on the other for chopping.
This design provides a chopping board, which can be manufactured in a hard plastic, by the injection moulding method, or in wood.
A three sided wall at the top of the chopping board, each corner being I55 degrees, prevents food being chopped from propelling off the board, so retaining it, and allowing the board to be carried with food on it, so preventing food from falling off.
The walls provide a direction for food to be poured into any receptacle, ie; a saucepan or a bowl.
This chopping board is not of a regular shape, but is shaped in such a way to make handling and holding of the board more controllable.
The walls provide an area for food to be pushed towards, and then guided off along the wall, either left or regnt, and guided into a receptacle.
This way food does not flow too quickly into a saucepan of boiling vater causing dangerous splaehing.Tt is also so controllable that food can even be guided into a small cup.
This chopping board can be handled by a left or right handed person as an area is provided for the hand to slip into a comfortable position, making the board more controllable.
It also has a safety factor, tne shaped wall or. the board also prevents food rolling off when you tilt it, downward. pushing food up and off the end into the boiling water,preventing the steam going up tne bacs and scolding the hail, as as with other chopping boards.Other boaras when tilted will allow food to fall off;
Ahole is provided so that tne boara can be hung on a kitchen wall.
Claims (1)
- CLAIMS.I) A chopping boara that has walls or sides on no more than half of the board, providiiig a brake, preventing food from being ppopelled off the chopping board when its chopped or sliced, these walls provide a guide to allow food to be more slowly guided into a receptacle, ie; a saucepan or small cup, with a utensil ie, a knife. The walls allow you to slowly guide food along, whist keeping the board flat, rather than tipping the board, so preventing steam front being directed behind the the board, onto the hand.The walls also provide a place to direct food towards, when it is being prepared, so that food can be stacked against the wall, while still retaining it on the board.t) AO chopping board as claimed in claim I that provides a recess on both sides of the board so that the board can be used just as safely by either a left or right handed person.3) A chopping board as claimed in claims I and 2 wherety the the retaining wall does not cause any obstruction to the chopping of the food, so that t;ie whole of the surface area of the board can be used by either left or right handed person.4) A chopping board as substantialy as described herein with reference to figures I-3 of the accompanying drawings.
