Description

HEAD-DRESS This invention relates to head-dresses, such as for bridal wear, generally including a basic unit of clip or similar form for attachment to the head, and a decorative arrangement such as a veil and/or a ribbon arrangement attached to the clip basic unit.
Conventional head-dresses of this type require customers, say in a shop, initially to select a decorative arrangement to match with a particular basic unit, which arrangement then has to be attached to the basic unit, say by a sales assistant, often by needle and thread, before a customer can inspect the overall appearance of the headdress. This is time-consuming in paying attention both to to the decorative arrangement itself and to its attachment to the basic unit, and in that the decorative arrangement may have to be detached again.
According to this invention a decorative arrangement is attached to a basic unit in an easily detachabl-e manner.
Embodiments of the invention thus meet the above disadvantages, and have the advantage of a head-dress being arranged in such a way that any combination between a basic unit and decorative arrangement can be achieved in a usable way and in a simple manner.
Suitable fixing means are provided on the basic unit and/or the decorative arrangement by which the two parts can be attached to one another in an easily detachable manner, so that the decorative arrangement is readily used and assessed, which is in marked contrast to the previous described state of the art, generally requiring cutting of threads for parts to be separated.
Preferably, first attaching means is associated with the basic unit, and related second attaching means is associated with the decorative arrangement, so that the two mentioned parts are quickly attachable to, and also quickly detachable from, one another.
This invention is applicable to all decorative arrangements to be worn on the head, whether based on closed loop basic units, such as wire hoops, other metal hoops, synthetic plastic hoops or similar or on gapped loops or clips, both types being suitable for fixing in hair of the wearer. Other possibilities include slide arrangements also quickly detachable from a decorative arrangement according to the general teaching of the present invention.
The term decorative arrangement includes all decorative arrangement which are attachable to basic head-dress units.
Such decorative arrangement can be veils, ribbon arrangements or the combination of a veil and a ribbon arrangement.
The term ribbon arrangement is not to be understood in a restricting manner, as pearl strings or other decorative strings and similar can be used instead of ribbons.
The connection between the basic unit, and the decorative arrangement does not have to be at the rear of the wearer's head, for example, provision can be made for the wearer to wear the entire arrangement transversely, for example covering an ear, so that detachable connection hereof is arranged to one side.
A plurality of attachments are possible as detachable connecting means between the basic head-dress unit and the decorative arrangement. For preference only the head-dress support can be rigidly and undetachably connected to a mounting yoke, preferably made of a wire or synthetic plastics material, in which respect the mounting yoke may have at least one outwardly extending limb which is detachably connected to an associated mount on the decorative arrangement.
Preferably such outwardly extending limb is inserted into a formation, such as a looped band associated with the decorative arrangement say virtually undetachably connected thereto, usually at it's upper end. A PVC tube can be used as an alternative to the looped band.
By engagement of a relatively long limb into an also long looped band of the decorative arrangement (in particular for a veil), the latter can be attached via a long attaching area to the mounting yoke and thus to the basic unit. This means that an extended attachment is provided rather than a point attachment, which can be favourable as between the decorative arrangement and the basic unit.
Even if the wearer catches the decorate arrangement on any item, that will not result in the decorative attachment being detached from the basic head-dress unit.
Instead of such attachment by means of a mounting yoke and limbs thereof, other detachable attachment means are feasible and advantageous.
Thus a decorative attachment may have corresponding loops or hooks on the upper edge of the decorative arrangement (particularly of a veil and/or flaming ribbon arrangement) which are hooked into corresponding loops or hooks at the basic head-dress unit and attached thereat.
Using hooks and eyes for attachment purposes, some do not have to be bent from wire or moulded from synthetic material of a hard type, but could also be formed of elastic material, for example of rubber band.
Instead of the described loop-hook-eye connections, other connecting means are possible, for example press studs or barbed hooks.
Below, specific embodiment of the invention are described in more detail, based on the accompanying drawings illustrating several arrangements.
All statements and features hereof including the spatial arrangements illustrated in the drawings, are considered as being of inventive substance as far as they are individually or in combination new relative to the state of the art.
In the accompanying drawings: Fig.l is a schematic top view of a basic head-dress unit with a mounting yoke; Fig.2 shows the mounting yoke of Fig.l in a perspective side view; Fig.3 shows part of a decorative arrangement for the basic unit of Fig.l; Fig.4 is a cross-section along line IV-IV in Fig.3; Fig.5 is a schematic top view of another embodiment for mounting to a basic head-dress unit; and Fig.6 shows an associated mounting on a decorative arrangement.
In Fig.l, a basic head-dress have a clip 1, closed on itself or otherwise made of endless form. The clip 1 is associated with the hair of the wearer and secured in place by means of a comb 3 at the rear of the wearer's hair. The use of comb 3 is considered exemplary only, other attachment means between clip 1 and the hair of the wearer being known and usable.
The comb 3 is readily connected to the clip 1 by way of attachment means that are not illustrated in detail.
The front region 2 of the clip is shown cusped further to allow a forehead decoration for the wearer.
For the purpose of embodying this invention, a mounting yoke 4 is arranged at the rear of the clip 1, and is shown connected to the rear of the clip 1 by means of loops 6.
The clip 1 is made of a metal wire material which can be covered by fabric, or it could be made of synthetic material, or other material combinations.
Referring also to Fig.2, the mounting yoke 4 has a shank 5 that can abut against the clip 1, and is attached thereto by the loops 6. At the respective outside ends of shank 5 are eyes 8,9 and respective limbs 10,11 extend from the eyes 8,9. Figs. 1 and 2 show the mounting yoke 4 without a decorative arrangement 13, but see Fig.3 attached thereto.
The mounting yoke of Fig.2 is conveniently formed of easily bendable wire material of round cross-section, but other possibilities are not ruled out, for example any suitable synthetic plastic material.
The free ends of limbs 10,11 are bend around into hooked shapes at their ends 12 so a to reduce the danger of injury.
Turning to Figs. 3 and 4, a looped band 15 is attached to the upper end of the decorative arrangement 13, which can be a veil and/or a ribbon arrangement.
A suitable looped shank 15 can be at least approximately 12 cm long and the limbs 10,11 of the mounting yoke can be longer, say approximately 14 to 15 cm long. A length for the shank 5 of approximately 13 cm allows most veils to abut against the shank 5 without forming creases.
Preferably, a hook 7 is bent or otherwise formed medially in the material of the shank 5, and a loop 16 is sewn on the veil, see Fig.3, approximately in the middle of the band 15 to correspond with the hook 7.
To attach a decorative arrangement according to Figs.3 and 4 to a head-dress unit 13 according to Figs. 1 and 2, for example, one limb 10 is picked up and passed through aperture 19 (Fig.4) of the looped band 5. Then the loop 16 is hung onto hook 7, and the end 12 of shank 10, now protruding from the looped band 15, is hooked into eye 8 at the mounting yoke 4.
The other limb 11 actually serves no purpose for this simple type of attachment, i.e. if only one veil 14 or one ribbon arrangement is used. The limb 11 is then simply hooked into the other eye 9, and lies substantially parallel to shank 5.
However, if a further ribbon or other arrangement is required, and then that ribbon or other arrangement also has a looped band like that referenced 15, then explanation as already given for Figs. 2,3,4 applies to threading of its looped band onto the limb 11 before the latter is hooked into eye 9.
As will be clear the mounting yoke 4 must have at least one limb 10 or 11 and in order to attach a single decorative arrangement 13, and several decorative arrangements require at least a further limb (say 11), more if more than two decorative arrangement are involved.
Fig. 3 also shows, where the decorative arrangement 13 is a veil 14, gathering 18 of the material of the veil 14 by a seam 17 to the looped band 15.
Embodiments of the present invention permit a readymade decorative arrangements saleable complete. It is no longer necessary to demonstrate that particular veils or other decorations match other parts of the head-dress.
Whilst such complete decorative arrangements can be available ready-made and in suitable sales containers, it is the case that particular decorative arrangements are universally usable, interchangeable with and attachable to any forms of a basic head-dress unit.
In another embodiment, see Figs. 5 and 6, a clip 21 (only partially shown) has its rear attached to eyes 22,23 spaced from one another, and a hook 24 arranged medially thereof. A wire 25 or a synthetic-material band is shown attached to the decorative arrangement 13, conveniently stitched thereto (not shown in detail) and having an eye 28 serving to hook into the hook 24 of the clip 21. Ends 26,27 projecting from securement of the attachment 13 to the wire 25 are to be engaged into respective ones of the eyes 22 and 23.
Then, for connecting the decorative article 13, the one end 27 is first inseted into eye 22, then the entire arrangement is offset towards the left (as shown), so that the other end 26 can be inserted into the eye 23. Finlly, the eye 28 is hooked into hook 24.
It is understood that the described hook-eye-loop connections can be arranged differently, for example in themselves or by different number of hooks and eyes being provided.
Using the present invention, ready-made decorative arrangements can be attached to clips or similar of basic head-dress units with universally exchangeability and easy attachment/detachment, and in a way affording mutual strength. As well as excellent suport characteristics, such arrangements offer sales advantages by sales staff being able to combine and recombine ready-made decorative articles with any ready-made basic head-dress units such as the described clip or similar.
