Abstract

The razor, particularly for professional use in hairdressing establishments, comprises a support (2) in which the blade (3) is mounted with its cutting edge protected by a safety seal (5) which has to be broken off along the line (6) before the blade can be used. The blade (3) can either be housed within the support during moulding of the support (2), or else, a housing area can be formed in the support for positioning the blade (3) and a pinned body (4) can be closed over the previously placed blade to secure the blade (3) within the support (2). <IMAGE>

Description

DISPOSABLE RAZOR WITH SAFETY SEAL The present invention relates to a disposable razor with a safety seal which is mainly to be used in hairdressers, said safety seal must be removed before use thereof.
The disposable razor that is proposed is used on only one client, so that once the razor has been used it is thrown away. Furthermore a client can see that the razor which is going to be used to shave him has the safety seal and thus has not been used before.
Conventional razors used in hairdresser' s for shaving clients consist of a blade and a handle connected by a pin. The handle is provided with a groove wherein the blade is positioned in the closed position. The razor is successively used with different clients and its blade is cleaned and sharpened, as it becomes worn.
Hence the razor lasts for a very long time.
Razors which consist of a blade holder and a handle which also acts as a protective cover of the blade in the closed position, are also used. Both bodies are connected by means of a shared shaft. The blade holder is provided with a guide in which each one of the blades to be used is coupled. The blades are disposable when the cutting edge has become worn and a perfect shave is no longer attained. The same blade is used to shave different people before it is replaced.
With both types of razor, having a blade that either can be sharpened or is replaceable, the same inconvenience arises, since both are used to shave different people and thus diseases such as AIDS, hepatitis and the like can be caught from small bleeding cuts.
The disposable razor that is proposed in the present invention comprises a piece made of plastics, or other material, that acts as the support of the blade itself and that is similar to that for replaceable blades of conventional razors.
The cutting edge of the razor remains protected by a seal in the form of a flange of the same material as, and connected to, the support which acts as a seal guaranteeing that said razor has not been used before, since said seal has to be pulled off the support in order to use the razor.
The blade may be incorporated into the support during the manufacturing of the same or else it can be done in such a way that in the blade positioning area the support has a pinned body which upon closing houses the blade and in turn it is fastened to the support.
Upon making the razor in the described manner the client has the guarantee that the blade has not been used before if it is provided with the safety seal.
According to the present invention there is provided a disposable razor comprising a support, a blade carried by the support, and a safety seal on the suport, which seal protects the cutting edge of the blade and prevents use of the razor until the seal is broken.
Other preferred features and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following description and accompanying claims.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawing: Figure 1. It is a side elevation view of the razor according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention.
Figure 1 shows the support, generally made of plastics, which holds the blade and whose cutting edge remains protected by the removable safety seal. The dotted line shows the pinned body that will hold the blade if it is not built in the support during the injection process.
Referring to Figure 1, the razor 1, mainly for professional use in hairdresser' 5 comprises a support 2 held by the person doing the shaving, in such a way that said injected plastic support will hold the blade 3.
The blade 3 can either be incorporated during the injection process of else the support 1 can be made forming the blade housing area, and with a body 4 pinned to the support 2, placing the blade in place by hand and then closing the body 4 over the support 2.
In both embodiments the cutting edge of the blade 3 remains protected by the seal 5 in such a way that said seal remains attached to the support 2 along the dotted line 6 for separation therefrom.
Thus, when the person who is going to shave a client takes a razor 1 he will remove the seal 5 separating it from the support 2 along the dotted line 6, exposing the cutting edge so that the person may be shaved.
The disposable razor 1 being made in the described manner the client will be sure that if the razor has the seal 5 it has not been used before In this way the risk of contamination of the blade with diseases such as AIDS, hepatitis and the like, via possible cuts of a client, is avoided.
