Abstract

A box file has a casing comprising locating stubs 11 at both lateral sides, and a cover comprising two cover plates 2,3 having elongate slots 21,31. The stubs are arranged to engage in the slots so as to allow the cover plates to be shifted to abut together to close the casing or to be spaced apart to open the casing. In the closed position of the casing, open-ended slots 22,32 engage further locating stubs 12. One of the cover plates has a block 33 for locating in a slot 241 on the other cover plate so as to lock the plates together. The casing also has a finger hole on the front side wall for enabling removal of the box file from its storage place. <IMAGE>

Description

BOX FILE This invention relates to a box file.

According to the present invention there is provided a box file which includes a casing having a plurality of locating stubs on both lateral sides thereof, and a cover means comprising two cover plates having respectively a plurality of elongated slots in opposed lateral sides thereof, said stubs being arranged to locate in said elongated slots so as to allow said two cover plates to be moved to abut together to close said casing or to be moved apart to open said casing; one of said cover plates including a block locatable in a slot on the other cover plate so as to lock said two cover plates together; said casing also including a round hole on the front side wall for a finger to hook therein so as to pull the box file out of its storage place.

In one embodiment of the present invention, the closing or opening of the two cover plates is made by a relative change in position of the elongated slots of the two cover plates on the bilateral stubs of the casing, and the fastening of the two covers plates, a block on one cover plate to lock into a slot on the other cover plate.

A box file in accordance with the present invention has the following advantages: (1) It provides a simple structure easy to assemble. Through the arrangement of locating stubs matching with elongated slots, the assembly of the box file becomes easy.

(2) When the two cover plates are closed, a locking block on one cover plate is set in the locating slot of the other cover plate such that the two cover plates are firmly locked together and will not break away from each other. The two cover plates can also be very easily moved apart parallel with the front and back side walls of the casing respectively) to allow the box file to be fully opened for placing therein or taking out therefrom various documents.

(3) When one wishes to pick out one box file from a rack on which there are a series of box files in accordance with the present invention, one can simply hook a finger in the round hole on the front wall of the selected box file to pull it out.

An embodiment of the present invention will now be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of a box file according to the present invention, Figure 2 is a perspective assembled view of the box file of Figure 1, and Figure 3 is a schematic drawing illustrating box file of Figure 2 with the cover plates moved apart to open the box file.

Referring to Figures 1 and 2, a box file includes a casing 1 comprising four locating stubs each 11, 12, 11' and 12' at both sides, wherein the stub 11 is arranged at a position symmetrical to the stub 11' while the stub 12 is symmetrical to the stub 12'. A rectangular locating plate 13 is respectively provided at both sides of the casing 1 below the stubs. A clip 4 is attached to the inner surface of the front side wall of the casing 1 by rivets through fixing holes 41. A round hole 14 is provided on the front side wall of the casing at a position below clip 4. Two symmetrical cover plates 2 and 3 are provided to cover the casing 1. The left hand cover plate 2 and the right hand cover plate 3 each comprises bilaterally a closed type elongated slot 21 or 31 and an open type elongated slot 22 or 32.The left cover plate 2 comprises a rectangular recess 23 at the middle of the right side edge, which rectangular recess comprises an extending plate 24 having a slot 241 thereon. The right cover plate 3 comprises a block 33 at the inner surface at the middle of the left side edge.

Referring to Figure 2, when the box file is closed, the stubs 11 and 12 of the casing 1 are set in the closed type elongated slot 21 and the locating point A of the open type elongated slot 22 respectively, while the stubs 11' and 12' are set in the closed type elongated slot 31 and the locating point A of the open type elongated slot 32 respectively; the bottom edge of the left and right cover plates 2 and 3 are partly in contact with the upper edge of the rectangular locating plate 13; the inner block 33 of the right cover plate 3 is set in the slot 241 of the extending plate 24 of the left cover plate 2 to allow both cover plates 2 and 3 to be firmly retained to cover the casing 1.

To remove one box file from a series of box files that are arranged at a file stand, one may insert one's finger into the front round hole 14 of the casing 1 to draw the desired box file out of the file stand.

Referring to Figure 3, both cover plates are put aside to open the box file. To open the two cover plates 2 and 3 one may press on the rectangular recess 23 with a finger to let the inner block 33 of the right cover plate 3 break away from the constrain of the slot 241 of the extending plate 2 so as to further pull the two cover plates2 and 3 apart, allowing the open type slots 22 and 32 breaking away from the constraint of the stubs 12 and 12' of the two cover plates 2 and 3 respectively. After the two cover plates 2 and 3 are set apart, the position of the stubs 11 and 11' is changed from the locating point A to a suitable position (that is, the position of the stubs 11 and 11' is changed from the locating point A to a position toward point B of the elongated slot 21 or 31).

Therefore, the two cover plates 2 and 3 are shifted from a position vertical to the front or back side wall of the casing 1 to a position parallel with the front or back side wall of the casing 1.

When closing the two cover plates 2 and 3, it is simple to move both cover plates 2 and 3 inward from a position parallel with front or back side wall of the casing 1 to a position in vertical to the front or back side wall of the casing 1 whilst allowing both inner edges to be in contact with each other with the inner block 33 of the right cover plate 3 set in the slot 241 of the extending plate 24 of the left cover plate 2 (as shown in Figure 2).

Claims

1. A box file which includes a casing having a plurality of locating stubs on both lateral sides thereof, and cover means comprising two cover plates having respectively a plurality of elongated slots in opposed lateral sides thereof, said stubs being arranged to locate in said elongated slots so as to allow said two cover plates to be moved to abut together to close said casing or to be moved apart to open said casing; one of said cover plates including a block locatable in a slot on the other cover plate so as to lock said two cover plates together; said casing also including a round hole on the front side wall for a finger to hook therein so as to pull the box file out of its storage place.

A box file as claimed in claim 1, comprising a casing having four locating stubs made on each of the two lateral side walls, each four locating stubs on each of the two lateral sides being arranged with the closer two stubs positioned at the same level symmetrically to each other and with the other two stubs positioned apart at another level symmetrically to each other, a rectangular locating plate on each of the two lateral side walls, a round hole made on the front side wall at lower position; a clip having a plurality of fixing holes for rivets to fix said clip to the inner surface of the front side wall of said casing; a left cover plate, comprising bilaterally a closed type elongated slot, an open type elongated slot, and rectangular recess comprising an extending plate having thereon a locating slot;; a right cover plate, comprising bilaterally a closed type elongated slot, an open type elongated slot, and an inner block made at the bottom surface at the middle of the left side edge; wherein said closer two stubs positioned at a same level are set in said opened type elongated slot of said right cover plate and said opened type elongate slot of said right cover plate respectively, said spaced two stubs positioned at another level being set in said closed type elongated slot of said left cover plate and said closed type elongated slot of said right cover plate respectively, said left and right cover plates being shifted inward or outward to respectively change the position of said four stubs in said closed type or open type elongated slotsso as to close or open said casing; said inner block of said right cover plate being set in said locating slot of said left cover plate during closing and said left and right cover plates over said casing; said round hole on the front side wall of said casing being provided for a finger hook therein so as to drag the box out of its positioned place.
