Abstract

The socket wrench has a handle 10 containing an electric motor which drives gear 3 via shaft 11 and worm 4. Switch 5 provides forward and reverse drive for the motor, which may be a 12 volt DC unit. Power may be provided by a rechargeable battery pack. <IMAGE>

ELECTRICALLY POWERED S()CKET WRENCH SOCKET TYPE SPANNERS ARE UNIVERSALLY USED IN TIIE FIELD OF MOTOR CAR REPAIRS, MOST ARE EITHER TIGHTENED BY A RATCHET SOCKET WRENCH OR AN AIR POWERED GUN REQUIRING A SEPERATE AIR COMP.RESSOR AND A BULKY AIR LINE.
THE ELECTRICALLY POWERED SOCKET WRENCH PROVIDES FOR A COMPLETLY INTEGRATED POWERED SOCKET WRENCH.
REFERRING TO FIG I. THE GEAR 3 IS DRIVEN BY THE WORM GEAR 4 MOUNTED ON THE SHAFT II. WHICH IS I?J TURN DRIVEN BY A GEARED ELECTRIC MOTOR IO. MOUNTED IN THE HANDLE OF THE WRENCH 6. INCORPORATED IN THE HANDLE IS A SWITCH 5 WHICH PROVIDES FOREWARD AND REVERSE DRIVE FOR THE MOTOR.
THE MOTOR. IS A I2 VOLT D,C. UNIT,POWER IS PROVIDED BY A RECHARGEABLE BATTERY PACK. THE RECHARGING POINTS 7 BEING INCORPORATED IN THE WRENCH HANDLE. A JACK SOCKET 9 IS PROVIDED IN ORDER THAT A I2 D.C. SUP PLY CAN BE PROVIDED FROM AN INDEPENDENT SOURCE, TO ENABLE CONTINUOUS RUNNING OF THE MOTOR.
AS A WORM DRIVE IS UTILIZED,ADDITIONAL TIGHTENING OVER AND ABOVE THAT PROVIDED BY THE MOTOR MAY BE PROVIDED 13Y HAND LEVERAGE.

  3. 3. THE ABILITY TO RUN OFF TNE BATTERY OF A MOTOR VECHILE.
  4. 4. THE ABILITY TO RUN USING MAINS ELECTRICITY VIA A TRANSFORMER.
  5. 5. THE SAVING OF ENERGY BY THE OPERATIVE.
