Receiving sets, construction of. - A self-contained set for mounting on a telephone earpiece comprises a crystal detector b, x, mounted in an insulating body j formed with an external groove in which is wound the inductance. The latter comprises two coils c, d, the coil c being tapped to studs m co-operating with a wiper q carried by a rotatable member p. A rotatable ring y carries in the form of a semi-cylindrical metal foil lining. one plate of a variable condenser. The fixed plate is mounted outside the coil c and the plates are separated by a mica cylinder. Contact with the movable plate is provided by a metal ring 5. The apparatus is mounted on the earpiece by means of metal pillars h, i which also providethe necessary connections. Fig. 1 shows the electrical connections. Fig. 5 shows a method of connecting an additional pair of telephones in series. The terminals 10, 11 are normally strapped together the strap being replaced when. desired by another pair of telephones.
