Abstract

A demountable slope climbing gripping plate 1 has sprung shoulders 2 to grip a ski and provide positive grip for the ski while walking or standing on snow covered slopes. When not clamped to the ski's the climbing grips can be carried as pairs in a small pouch. In an alternative version the snow gripping plate is attached to the base of the ski-poles. <IMAGE>

Description

A DEMOUNTABLE SLOPE CLIMBING GRIP FOR SNOW SKI'S THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A DEMOUNTABLE SLOPE CLIMBING GRIP FOR SNOW SKI S.
SNOW SKI'ING ON SLOPES IS A WELL KNOWN AND MUCH ENJOYED PASTIME. ASCENDING THE SNOW COVERED SLOPES HOWEVER IS A PHYSICALLY DEMANDING TASK REQUIRING SUCH WALKING TECHNIQUES AS SIDE STEPPING AND THE HERON-BONE STEP.
ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT INVENTION THERE IS PROVIDED A SPRUNG GRIPPING PLATE INTO WHICH IS RELEASABLY CLAMPED THE SKI (ie) BY THE SPRUNG SHOULDERS OF THE PLATE, IN ORDER TO PROVIDE A POSITIVE GRIP ON SNOW COVERED SLOPES WHILST WALKING OR STANDING ON SKITS.
WHEN NOT CLAMPED TO THE SKI'S THE CLIMBING GRIPS ARE CARRIED AS PAIRS IN A SMALL POUCH.
A SPECIFIC EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION WILL NOW BE DESCRIBED BY WAY OF EXAMPLE WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS IN WHICH FIG 1.SHOWS AN OBLIQUE VIEW OF THE SLOPE CLIMBING GRIP ATTACHED TO THE SKI.

THE RIB IS SHOWN BY EXAMPLE BUT CAN BE EXCHANGED FOR OTHER SHAPED RIBS OR STUDS TO PROVIDE A CHOICE OF GRIPS FOR DIFFERENT TERRAIN (ie) LIGHT SNOW, DEEP SNOW OR ICY SNOW.
THE SLOPE CLIMBING GRIP FIG 2. HAS SPRUNG SHOULDERS TO PROVIDE EASY ENTRY AND EXIT FOR THE SKI AND TO PROVIDE A POSITIVE CLAMP TO THE SIDES OF THE SKI AS SHOWN ON SHEET 1/3.
IN PRACTISE THE USER PUSHES THE SPRUNG SHOULDERS OF THE GRIPPING PLATE OVER THE SKI. ONCE FULLY LOCATED WITHIN THE SHOULDERS OF THE GRIPPING PLATE, THE SKI IS SECURE.
TO RELEASE THE SKI FROM THE GRIPPING PLATE THE USER GRASPS THE LARGER OF THE SPRUNG SHOULDERS OF THE GRIPPING PLATE AND PULLS THE PLATE AWAY FROM THE SKI.
AN ALTERNATIVE DESIGN SHOWN IN FIG 5. IS RELEASABLY ATTACHED TO THE SKI BY A SIMPLE STEP-IN STEP-OUT ACTION.
WHEN NOT USED TO ASCEND SLOPES THESE ATTACHED SNOW GRIPS ARE USED AS CONVENTIONAL SKI POLES.

CLAIMS.
1. A DEMOUNTABLE SLOPE CLIMBING GRIP FOR SNOW SKITS.
2. A DEMOUNTABLE SLOPE CLIMBING GRIP AS CLAIMED IN 1. HAVING SPRUNG SHOULDERS TO CLAMP THE SKI AND FACILITATE ITS RELEASE.
3. A DEMOUNTABLE SLOPE CLIMBING GRIP AS CLAIMED HEREIN WITH MEANS FOR RELEASABLY ATTACHING VARIOUS RIBS OR STUDS TO THE GRIPPING PLATE.
4.A DEMOUNTABLE SLOPE CLIMBING GRIP FOR SNOW SKI'S WITH MEANS FOR ATTACHING THE GRIPPING PLATE TO THE SKI-POLE.
