Abstract
222,387. Travis, W. T., and Travis, P. J. March 10, 1924. Potato-harresters. - Potatoes are lifted by a share 30 arranged at the end of a conveyer 31 which carries them to a transverse shoot 38, the conveyer being driven from a motor 50 and provided with eccentric supporting rolls 33 to give a shake to remove soil from the crop. The haulms are simultaneously engaged by a carrier comprising parallel coacting belts 35 traversing channelled guides 40 and adapted at its upper end to pull the haulms through a stripping device formed by a transverse bar having a central loop. The potatoes pass from the shoot 38 to a cleaning conveyer 39. The belts 35 pass round vertical shafts driven by bevel gear from the motor, and one of the shafts is transversely movable to accommodate varying thicknesses of haulms.
