Abstract

The invention relates to an anti-vibration or shock mounting in the form of a hollow hemispherical, lower part (1), constructed of a suitable flexible material and an upper part (2), constructed either from a solid or flexible material and incorporating an attachment bolt, and inflation valve (3). When the lower part is inflated, the mounted equipment is raised and supported on the lower flexible part thereby acting as a very effective anti-vibration or shock mount; when deflated or upon maximum deflection support is obtained from the integral central bump stop. Description

Pneumatic Anti Vibration and chock l.ountin hany varying types of anti vibration and shock mountings are available, consisting of springs, rubber blocks, air chamber and combinations of these.
The invention relates to an antivibration and shock mounting in the form of a hemisphrical hollow lower part, constructed from any suitable flexible material and upper part constructed either from a solid or flexible material, incorperating an attachment bolt and integral sit down flexible bump stop.
The hollow chamber can be inflated with air or any suitable gas through a tank valve or similar valve, fitted into the top section. An alternative to the inflatable version, would be to fill or partially fill the hollow chamber with any suitable material such as liquid, cellular or flexible material or any combination of these. Before inflation the mounted load is supported by the walls of the lower hollow chamber, any trapped air or gas and upon maximum deflation the integral central bump stop. As air pressure is increased within the lower chamber the mounted load will be lifted and supported on an air cushion, providing an extreamly high degree of vibration isolation.
.Within pressure and load limits adjustment of the air pressure can be used as a means of levelling. The version of the mount illustrated in the accompanying drawings show the lower part of the mount as a hollow hemisphere. Another variation could use a: lower part either as a smaller or larger section of a sphere with adjustment to dimension of the upper part of the mount but substantially similar tt the mount illustrated in the dra..ngs.
The invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which ; - Fig 1.

lightly loaded and inflated to max air pressure.
Referance to the drawing the mounting comprises a lower hemispherical flexible and hollow section 1. attached to an upper part 2 incorperating an inflation valve 3. central integral flexible bump stop 4. and equipment fixing stud 5.
