Description

1 is k 1 11 2218850 MULTI-STEP ELECTRIC OPERATING MODE. SI7ITCH WITH
SAFETY LOCK T1he -Invention relates to multi-step electric operating mode switch with safety lock.
Electric operating mode switch is required in many fields of the technical life, where the switching of each operating mode is bound to a condition, e.g. spheres of activity because of secrecy, peisons, time, etc.
One of the fields of application of the inven- tion may be the databank of the national personal.register regarded as strictly official secret.
Eeveral agencies, -offices obtain I the databank, but for example only for the name and add-re,ss regisitiation, therefore, - mainly because of the secrecy - it is not necessary to make available further stored date of the individuals.
The problem is similar in case of accessibility to the databanks of national d-efence, banks, etc.
Solution of the problem is conceivable in that parts of the computerized date register's memory.are accessible through cod.es d.etermined by the soft-ware.
The widespread use of the computers may raise similar problems in the industrial, commercial equipment. By way of example, the equipment of public utility services, electrical energetic systems as district heating, transportation etc. networks, or even. cash -registers car. be mentioned. In these fields of application the problems are similar in so far that accessibility of the databank's full information content, or- intervention in all functions of the machine is undesirable for certain agencies, offices or persons.
These problems can be solved with the aid of discrete codes which activate only certain specific fields of the memory.
However, the secrecy of coding entails drawbacks such as follows:
I,.
501 W.
1 t -1 t'---e admissible codes tie down a substantial part of the programme store, in ease of personnel changes, the new secrecy requires complete recoding in most instances, - realization of the foregoing demands hard work from those preparing the software to the operators, not to speak about the possible loss of time of the machine for the sake of maintaining the secrecy. in the course of this function. violation of the secrecy may easily occur.
The invention is aimed at solving the above outlined.problems, which offers the following additional services: Realization of such operating mode selecting s-,,,,itc"---, which allows accessibility to the steps of tll,-e i,,,hole operative program according to specific aspects for intervention or xeadout, without using the whole program necessary for this purpose. The operating mode selecting electric switch is provided with a lock possessing as many different keys as necessary for switching the number of operating modes. The operating mode switches and keys are prepared as to have the null position and. the first operating mode switched by the first key, the null position, - 1 first and second opewating rnodes by the seco,-.d key, etc., while the null position and the switch in,g position corresponding to all operating modes switched. by the last key. The mentioned.first. second.... lest operating modes do not necessarily mean the different steps of a single machine function (e.g. speed. steps), but the expression of operating modes can also be understood. as ordering the different machine assignments to each other. The operating mod.e switch can also be realized by certain keys switching the steps of an operation rr-,od.e in one direction, while the other keys switch a different sequence of operating modes by turning the same switch in opposite direction. Furthermore keys of the operating mode switch and the lock can be realized.so that the keys could be removed. from the keyway only in null position or in n-ull position and in arbitrary operating mode position.
17ovelty of the operating mode switch according to the invention is based on the recognition, that such lock can be constructed - either with mechanical or magnetic or electronic lock-insert - the shaft of which is connectible with the rotary part of a conventional rotary disc-type electric switch.
I 41 A- 1 1 The new arranger.ent according to the invention, that a single lock- insert should be adjustable at diferent angular positions with different keys to electric switching positions corresponding to these angular positions. can be realized by providing the end.s of the traditional duplicate key of the lockinsert with subsequent slots and/or steps of different position and size, or with their combination. Such internally formed.rings, or more precisely limit- ing lamellae are pulled over the lock-insert's cylinder, which with the subsequently machined respective slots or steps limit the angular displacement of the lock-insert's cylinder or switching wheel. Corners of the rotary disc-type electric switch enable switch- ing of the program as required.
Subject of the i.nvention is a multi-step electric operating mode switch provided. with safety lock, where the traditional cylindrical lock-insert is interlocked.with the rotary part of a multi-position rotary disc-type electric switch.
The novelty of the operating mode switch according to the invention is represented. by the key of the traditional lock-insert having a number of duplicate keys equal to the number of the required steps of the operating mode switch, on the end.s of which subsequent steps and/or slots of different position and size or i their combination are machined, which togetIner with shoulders machined Y, ,ith the internally formed lir.r.iting amellae - separated suitably by distance ring constitute the limiting part of the angular displacements corresponding to the different switching positions.
The operating mode switch according to the invention can be constructed. so that in the prohibited. key-removing position(s) shoulder of the limiting lamella's form fits into the subsequently machined. slot of the key. whereby they constitute the locking part of the key removal.
Form of the limiting lamella can be machined. with stop shoulder limiting the right and.left turn of the keys.
The biggest step machined on the same spot of the key's edges is instrumental in turning freely the lock-insert for the smaller steps machined on the same spot of the other keys.
The main advantages of the operating mode switch according to the invention are the following:
the computer-sided.program operating mode switches used until now can be realized.in a simple way, at a lower cost and reliably without the demand for separate program and program storage capacity.
!a Use of the keys realizing the different programs offers more reliable secrecy then the codes. JUse and storage of the keys is certifiable. If the person is replaced. recoding of the progism-steps is not necessary to preserve the secrecy, furthermore, no extra cost is needed for the work related. to the software and.operetor.
The operating mode switch according to the invention is described. in detail by way of example with 10 the aid. of drewing, in which Pig. 2 Fig. 1 is an assembly plan (exploded d-Tewing) show- -ing ing the structural parts of the operat mode switch according to the invention in perspective view, is the schematic side view of the operating mode switch according to the invention as complete assembly unit.
As shown in Fig. 1, the structural build-up of the operating mode switch according to the invention is the following: the operating mode switch has a lock-insert cylinder that may be arbitrarily mechanical, magnetic or electronic construction, the dimensions and locking variation of which suit the international standard specifications. The lock-insert 2 seats in the switch casing, together the locking function. Steps of the assembly: the limit ing lemnella 4, distance Ting 6 and limiting larrella 5 are placed on the extension at the end of lock insert 2 opposite the keyhole. The assembled unit is inserted into the hole of the switch casing 1, so that the guide lugs on the limiting lamellae 4, 5 fit into the respective slot of the switch casing 1, and thereby their position in the switch casing 1 is fixed.. The inner form of limiting larrellee 4 and 5 is machined individually according to the existing switch functions. so that the functions expected from each position of the operating mode switch are performed in harmony with the slots of the associated keys 3/1 - 3/V.
The unit consisting of lock-insert 2 in switch casing 1, limiting lar. elle 4, distance ring 6 and limiting lamella 5 with the interposition of spacer 7 and ring retainer 8 constitutes a compact unit.
Elements of the unit are fixed with the aid of lock ball 10 in the slot of switch casing 1.
The electric switching unit is assembled by placeing the arrester spiing 16 into the switch disc 15 and together with the arrester balls 17 arranged on both sides, they are placed into the arrester casing 14.
1 11 1 1 The cover plate 19 is placed on the inteiconnect- ing tong-_e 18 located in slot of the switch disc 15, A.
then, the slot of the disc of rotary switch 13 is pulled over the interconnecting tongue 18. The inter- connecting tongue 18 of this electric switching unit is fitted into the slot of the extension of lock-insert 2. The assembled two units are fastened together with screws 12. The clamp nut 9 and.counter nut 11 are screwed on the threaded mantle of the switch easing 1.
The keys to be inserted into the keyway of the cylindrical lock-insert 2 are shown in detail in drawings of keys 3/1 - 3/V.
The keys 3/1 - 3/V and lock-insert 2 in the present case represent traditional magnetic lock-inserts.
The keys 3/1 - 3/V differ from the traditional keys of the magnetic lock-insert in.the subsequently prepared. different slots and steps on the ends of keys 3/1 - 3/V.
The key 3/1 is a traditional key with plain end made with slot cutting 3/8. One edge of the end of key VII has a step 3/b. Steps 3/b and 3/d are machined on edge at the end of key 3/111, and slot 3/8 on the other edge. Steps 3/b end 3/e are machined on one edge at the end of key 3/IV and slot 3/c on the other edge.
Steps 3/s and 3/e are machined on one edge at the end of key 3/V and slot 3/c on the other edge.
- 10 Th-e opeiating miode SWitch according to t"-,-.e inve-n t -Lon. f,.1c-Ll, ions as follows:
When key 3/1 is inserted into the keyway of 'Lock insert 2. then slot 3/a fits into the form 3/e' of the limiting annular lamella 5 and thereby the lock insert 2 can be turned to the left by one switching position. The same key 3/1 stopped by the form 3/a' of the limiting annular lamella 4 inhibits turn of the key in opposite direction. At the serne time, slot 3/8 and form /a' conjunction inhibits removal of the key in switching position, therefore the key 3/1 can be removed only in the 11011 position of the switch.
The key 3/11 allows the turn of a signle switching position in. the opposite direction, since step 3/b at the end of key 3/11 stopped by the form 3/a' of the liMi2L.1L,ing annlUlEr lamells 5 inhibits turn to the left.
JAtt the same time, the form, 3/d' of the limiting annular lemelle 5 limits the switching steps after the first s,j,,itch4L--,g position. Step 3/b enables re-moval of key 2,0 3/11 even in its switching position from the keyway.
dr When the key 3/111 is inserted, step 3/b perfor-ms the same function with key 3/11, while step 3/6 on the same key 3/111 allows a further switching step, because an appropriate form is machined in the lirnit ing an-nulax lamella 5 for turn of step 3M. Key 3/111 can. be removed from the operating mode switch in 1 -j 7 L o m switching pos-L L-Lcns 11011 end I. SWi Lchinig f'-- he- 11T11 L the other to switch-L.-.g position "JI", slot 3/c on edge of the end of key 3/111 engaged with for,-' 3/c' Of N the limiting annular lemelle 5 inhibits the removal of key VIII in switching position 'III".
Inserting the key VIV, three switching positions can be turned to the right, but the key cannot be turned to the left. The switching positions "I" and. 'III" can be activated according to key 3/111, while the switching position ',III,, is determined by step 3/e on one_edge at the end.of key 3/IV by way of form 3/e' on the limiting annular lamelle 5, so that the key cannot be removed in switching position "III" either. Turn in the switching position IIIIIII is possible with cooperation of step 3/e and form 3/6' in the limiting annular lemella 5.
11,7hen the key 3/V is inserted, a single switching position to the left and three positions to the right can be switched. Steps 3/b and 3/a on one edge at the end of this key with the cooperation- of slot 3/e on the other edge and the machined formns of the annular lemellee 4 end 5 perform the limiting, since there are no stage limiting - inhibiting - machined forms for steps 3/b, 3/e and slot 3/c.
On the basis of the preceding example, it is evident that in the prohibited position(s) of the key removal, 1 1 the shouldea7 of f orm 3/0' of the li-iting lemnellee 4 end 5 fits into slots 3/0 mechined S-bsequently on keys 3/i - 3/V, End 'thereby they iepzesentu 3 the locking part for the removal of keys 3/i - 3/V.
The f orm of limiting annular lemellee 4 and 5 is machined with shoulder 3/e' limiting the turn of keys 3/1 - 3/V to the right and/or left.
The greatest step 3/e machined on the same spot of the edges of keys 3/1 3/V represents the Part allow- ing the free turn, of lock-insert 2 for the smaller steps 3/s, 3/b, 3/c, 3/d machined or, the se-we spots of keys 3/1 - 3/V.
Fig. 2 illustrates the schematic side view of the compact unit assembled according to fig. 1.
A possible field of application of the operating mode switch described by way of example in th-e drawings is a programmed cash register, when the following operationel specifications have to be complied wi-Lh:
