Description
.DTD:
t to tu tn 0 tn I I i0 Viewed from one aspect the invention provides a curtain glider for rails with a downwardly facing longitudinal slot, having a suspension element intended for fastening the curtain and a glider head which is intended to rest and glide on the inner surfaces of the rail bottom edge webs, the glider head having a supporting shoe on each side of its plane of symmetry and the two supporting shoes being intended to transmit the tensile force acting from the curtain through the suspension element upon the glider head to the rail, wherein the glider head has at a location lower than each of the supporting shoes at least one securing lip projecting to each side, and at least one of said securing lips being downwardly deformable towards the suspension element, by virtue of its material andlor resilience of its shape during an inclined insertion of the glider head into the slot of the rail, and being adapted to spring back up after such insertion, whereupon the securing lips rest upon the inner surfaces of the rail edge webs which define the rail slot.
.DTD:
Another aspect of the object according to the invention is the possibility of considerably improving comfort in the insertion of gliders attached, e.g. stitched to a curtain or the like, by the possibility of inserting a plurality of gliders into the rail simultaneously by means of an assembly device.
.DTD:
Thus viewed from another aspect the invention provides a method of inserting in a rail curtain gliders each having a downwardly opening groove, wherein the gliders are mounted by their grooves on the correspondingly formed receiving edge of an assembly device and all the curtain gliders positioned on the receiving edge are inserted into the rail simultaneously with a slight inclination.
.DTD:
i0 In a preferred method the gliders are attached to a curtain or the like and are then mounted on the assembly device in preparation for the insertion or assembly, such mounting being effected for example at a table with the person concerned in a comfortable seated position, so that the subsequent assembly occurs by mere pressure exerted upon the device, and all the gliders present on the device thereby assume their gliding position in the rail simultaneously and easily.
.DTD:
Viewed from a further aspect the invention provides an assembly device for performing the above method, comprising a handle which carries a mounting bar angled at its free edge, the angled end section of the mounting bar being coordinated with the dimensions of the downwardly opening groove arranged on the curtain gliders so that the curtain gliders can be mounted snugly on said end section of the mounting bar.
.DTD:
Some exemplary embodiments of the curtain glider accordinQ to the invention are described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 shows a sectional view of a first embodiment during insertion into the rail, Figs 2 to 5 show perspective views of further variants of embodiment, Fig. 6 shows a section of the variant shown in Fig.
5, Fig. 7 shows a sectional view of an embodiment during insertion into the rail, Fig. 8 illustrates the assembly of a curtain glider constructed according to Figs 2 to 7 by means of a corresponding assembly device and Fig. 9 shows the assembly device itself.

.DTD:
After insertion into the rail, therefore, the glid- ers rest with the securing lips 35a and 35b upon the inner surfaces of the rail edge webs 3. As Fig. 7 also shows, thickened parts 36 protruding to both sides are formed on the glider neck; they may also be constructed in the form of separate cams, for example. Said thickened parts 36 form an additional securing means to prevent the gliders falling out, because they stabilize the glider relative to the rail.
.DTD:
According to Figs 5 to 7, each securing lip 35a,35b consists, starting from the underside of the adjacent sup- porting shoe 33a,33b, of a relatively thin and resiliently flexible section D, which merges into a relatively rigid section $.
.DTD:
The term "curtain" used in the present context also embraces drapes and other textiles which can be hung from glide rails.
.DTD:
Although the exemplary embodiments described all show gliders, the suspension element of which is produced integrally with the remaining glider elements and is con- structed as a closed eye, nevertheless within the ambit of the present invention the suspension elements could also be produced as separate plastic parts and could moreover be constructed in various forms, as open hooks or hook-in yokes with a movable engageable arm, for example.
.DTD:
It is to be clearly understood that there are no particular features of the foregoing specification, or of any claims appended hereto, which are at present regarded as being essential to the performance of the present invention, and that any one or more of such features or combinations thereof may therefore be included in, added to, omitted from or deleted from any of such claims if and when amended during the prosecution of this application or in the filing or prosecution of any divisional application based thereon. Furthermore the manner in which any of such features of the specification or claims are described or - Ii - defined may be amended, broadened or otherwise modified in any manner which falls within the knowledge of a person skilled in the relevant art, for example so as to encompass, either implicitly or explicitly, equivalents or generalisations thereof.
