Abstract
A blade (5) for a cutting machine for cutting upper collars (6) for garmets has a zig-zag shaped cutting edge. This produces a zig-zag cut line which avoids the need to trim dangling waste yarn from the cut line. <IMAGE>
Description
Blade for collar cutting machines
The present invention relates to blades for cutting collars for shirts.
Collar processing is one of the important processes in making ready-made clothes, in which the collar is generally made up of an upper collar sewn with a lower one. In collar processing an upper collar (Figures 5 to 7) folded crosswise to aLign its pointed ends IA before the upper collar 1 is sewn with the lower one, and the lower edge of the upper collar is then cut neatly as shown in Figure 5 with a collar cutting machine. At present a blade used in such collar cutting machines has a straight line blade edge so that the cut line 1B of the upper collar 1 is always a straight line even though the blade is sometimes a little curved. As a result, the yarn parallel to the cut line falls out of the cut line of the cloth in relatively large lengths after the cutting process as Figures 6 and 7 show.
Removing this dangling waste yarn is time consuming and it is difficult to provide a clean edge so that the quality of the resulting garment is impaired.
The present invention seeks to reduce the above problem.
Accordingly, the present invention provides a blade for a cutting machine for cutting an upper or Liar for a garment prior to the collar being sewn to a louver collar, wherein the blade has a zig-zag shaped cutting edge.
A blade according to the invention cuts the lower edge of an upper collar in a zig-zag line instead of a straight line with the result that waste yarn is cut into small lengths which easily drop down from the cloth to give the cut line a neat look.
The present invention is further described hereinafter by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
in which:
Figure 1 is an outward view of a collar cutter;
Figure 2 is a view of a cutter bl-wde according to the invention and an upper collar folded crosswise;
Figure 3 is a view of an upper co;lar having been cut with the collar cutter blade of Figure 2;
Figure 4 is a view of a cut line edge of the collar of
Figure 3;
Figure 5 is a view of a conventional collar cutter blade and an upper collar folded crosswise;
Figure 6 is a view of an upper collar cut with a conventional collar cutter blade; and
Figure 7 is a view of a cut line edge of the collar of
Figure 6.
Referring to Figures i to 4, a collar cutter blade 5 has a zig-zag shaped cutting edge similar to a saw tooth eige.
Figure 2 shows an upper collar 6 folded crosswise to be cut by cutter 2 with the cutter blade 5 (a collar cutter is a type of cutter that performs cutting by pressure as in a press) and Figure 3 shows the collar after cutting, the lower edge of the upper collar 6 showing a zig-zag-shaped line as Figure 4 shows in greater detail and the waste yarn turned out is so short that it immediately falls off the cloth and does not remain in the cut line 6A to impair its quality. The waste yarn does not have to be removed by personnel, thus saving considerable time and effort.
Claims (3)
1. A blade for a cutting machine for cutting an upper collar for a garment prior to the collar being sewn to a lower collar, wherein the blade has a zig-zag shaped cutting edge.
2. A cutting blade for a cutting machine for cutting an upper collar for a garment prior to the collar being sewn to a lower collar, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to Figures 1 to 4 of the accompanying drawings.
3. A cutting machine for cutting upper collars or garments, having a blade as claimed in claim 1 or 2.
