Abstract

A boat trailer 10 has road wheels each secured to a sealed wheel hub assembly 11 ventilated solely by ventilation passage means 51 comprising interconnected passages 57, 55 formed within a stub axle 21, an elbow piece 61, and a flexible pipe 65 leading to an elevated position of the trailer. The arrangement avoids intake of water into the hub assembly 11 when the trailer is backed into water, following a road journey, during which air present within the assembly expands dur to heat being generated by the bearings 23, 25. <IMAGE>
