Stream - cutting machines; rolling- machines; feeding and measuring.-A dough working machine for producing a strip of dough of substantially uniform thickness and density comprises a hopper 1, provided with delivery rolls 2, 3 for impelling a stream of dough towards its delivery opening, and a regulating roller 4, acting in opposition to the delivery rolls, which separates dough in excess of that required to form the strip from the stream passing to the opening and returns it to the hopper. After leaving the rolls 2, 3, the strip of dough passes through pairs of compressing and stretching rollers 5, 5 - - 7, all being provided with scrapers B, which rotate at successively increasing peripheral speeds and have gradually decreasing spacings. Finally, the strip is divided into pieces of determined weight by a rotary cutter 9, which is driven through a variable speed gear and is also given an intermittent motion, said pieces then being conveyed to a moulder or coiling machine by a conveyer 41 so as to leave intervals between the successive pieces. In a modification, Fig. 2, a knife 13 is adapted to sever from the dough that which is required to form the strip, while a plate 15 and rollers 16, 2 are provided to return the excess dough to the hopper. The hopper is provided with rollers 12 for impelling the dough towards the delivery rolls, while the width of the delivered strip of dough is determined by adjustable cutting discs 17, the excess dough trimmed off being diverted by a deflector 18 to the roller 16 and hopper 1.
