Abstract

A free standing rest has feet wide apart enough to clear a cluster of balls and is also high over the table top. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Elevated span rest This invention relates to an elevated span rest, to be used whilst playing certain shots in the game of Snooker.
There are occasions in the game of Snooker when particular shots cannot be played on the usual hand bridge. This is due to the physical limitations of reach over the table and/or lack of height from the table surface. In these circumstances a player has to resort to a form of aid known as rests.
All rests currently in use have two legs which rest on the table's playing surface. The legs are spaced close together, the widest being just over the diameter of a standard snooker ball apart.
According to the present invention there is provided a rigid, stable triangular shaped framed rest, free standing on legs, elevated level above the table's playing surface to between two and three times the height of a snooker ball.
The specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 shows in perspective the elevated span rest used to cue over a cluster of balls.
Referring to the drawing the Elevated Span Rest comprises a rigid, stable, triangular shaped frame (1) Free standing on legs (2) Elevated level above the table's playing surface to between 2 & 3 times the height of a snooker ball (3) Cueing positions (4) on which the cue (5ì slides are incorporated into the frame a free standing detachable shaft (6) is fitted to the frame used for positioning purposes.
1. An elevated span rest for use in the game of snooker which is a rigid, stable, triangular shaped frame construction, free standing on legs, elevated level above the table's playing surface between two and three times the height of a snooker ball.
2. An elevated span rest as claimed in claim 1 of sufficient width between any two of the support legs to position the rest anywhere over the pyramide of Red Balls.
3. An elevated span rest as claimed in claim 1 & 2 into which are incorporated positions on which the snooker cue slides to play shots which allows a view of the ball contact point with the cue tip either over or under the span rest dependant on the elevation of the cue butt.
4. An elevated span rest as claimed in any preceding claim wherein means are provided to attach securely an extendable detachable shaft with a leg, used for positioning purposes.
5. An elevated span rest substantially as described herein with reference to 1-6 of the accompanying drawing.
