Abstract
An automatic garbage collection system consists of a vehicle with an enclosed garbage compartment having its lower portions extended to give a two tier appearance. The left side lower portion of the compartment has a rectangular open topped part into which garbage is unloaded from dustbins. The dustbins have bottom lids pushed open by the front edge of the open-topped part. When the open-topped part is full, a covering lid will be drawn over it and a hydraulic packer plate will push the rubbish to the rear of the compartment. When the compartment is full a discharge door will be opened by moving vertically upwards and the hydraulic packer plate will push the garbage completely out. The dustbin is cylindrical with a top cover and is adjustably linked by a straight rod to a vertical stand. The bottom lid is spring loaded to return to its closing position after the vehicle has passed. <IMAGE>

SPECIFICATION
Automatic garbage collection system
Garbage collection system has to a large extent not been developed or advanced in relation to present day technological developments. But this invention of an automatic garbage collection system would virtually revolutionise the waste disposal collection throughout the world. The invention is fully automatic, rapid, cheap, effective and above all extremely hygenic.
The invention is devised with the objective to ensure that the environments are kept clean, hygenic and to minimise or eradicate unnecessary littering during collection.
The automatic garbage collection system is a very simple device. The specially designed trailer has an enclosed rectangular compartment with the lower portion being extended, on the left and right side to give a two tier appearance (illustrated in Fig. 1, 2, 3 & 4). On the left side of this extended portion is a rectangular open tray to collect the garbage (illustrated in Fig. 2, 3 & 4) in broken lines. As the metal plate on the front outside edge (illustrated in Fig. 1 & 2) of the rectangular open tray comes into contact with the rod of the bottom lid of the dustbin, (illustrated in Fig. 5 & 6) the hydraulic cylinder with spring load attachment to the tray at the bottom of the compartment will push the open tray outwards for the garbage to be unloaded in to it from the dustbin (illustrated in Fig. 2, 3 & 4).Then as the rod of the bottom lid of the dustbin glides along the edge (illustrated in Fig. 4) of the extended open tray, and comes into contact with a lever on the rear side (illustrated in
Fig. 1 & 2) the hydraulic cylinder with spring load will withdraw the tray to its original position thus leaving only a small rectangular opening. When the open rectangular compartment is full, a covering lid on top of the lower extended portion of the left side of the compartment will be hydraulically drawn to completely cover the rectangular opening (illustrated in Fig. 1 & 2). The hydraulic packer plate will then push the garbage to the rear of the compartment (illustrated in Fig. 1 & 2). As the hydraulic packer plate is withdrawn to its original position, the covering lid of the open rectangular tray will be released so that the rectangular tray is open again, empty, to collect more garbage.But as soon as the compartment is full, the vehicle has to discharge the garbage from the enclosed compartment.
Initially the discharge door of the compartment (illustrated in Fig. 3) will move upwards and the hydraulic packer plate will push the garbage completely out of the compartment. The discharge door will return to its closed position when the hydraulic packer plate is withdrawn. This vehicle is now ready for its next round of collection.
The specially designed cylindrical dustbin is made of fibre glass with a cover on the top and sliding lid at the bottom (illustrated in Fig.
5 & 6). A vertical rod is attached to the bottom lid which is in turn connected to the vertical stand holding the dustbin in position by a straight metal rod. This straight rod is attached by a spring to the vertical stand. The spring will enable the bottom lid to be opened for the garbage to be emptied from the dustbin and return to its original position when the rod is released. When the vehicle moves along side the dustbin, the metal plate on the front side of the extended rectangular opening on the left side of the compartment will push the rod attached to bottom lid, thus opening the dustbin and unloading the garbage while the rod of the bottom lid glides along the extended open tray (illustrated in Fig. 4). As the vehicle moves forward, the bottom lid will return to its original position.This mechanism is made possible by the presence of the spring which is attached to the vertical stand (illustrated in Fig. 5).
For the system to be implemented the standard dustbins must be placed at a particular height and free from obstruction for the vehicle to drive along side the dustbins to collect the rubbish. In this collection system we only require one vehicle with a driver to collect the garbage and dispose them at a particular place.
Besides this fully automatic system, this principle can be utilised for mechanical or semi mechanical system of garbage collection by using a push cart which is driven by an engine or pushed manually. For the manual collection system, each individual dustbin lid has to be opened for the rubbish to fall into a recepticle (illustrated in Fig. 7 & 8).

3. When the rod attached to the bottom lid as claimed in 2 glides along the edge of the tray and comes into contact with the lever at the rear end, the spring with hydraulic attachment will withdraw the tray inwards to its original position (illustrated in Fig. 1) and the bottom lid of the dustbin will also return to its

Claims (6)
1. The specially designed trailer compartment (illustrated in Fig. 1) with relevant fittings will enable the garbage to be collected automatically from the specially designed dustbins (illustrated in Fig. 5 & 6).
2. The enclosed compartment as claimed in 1 has a rectangular open tray which is pushed outwards by a hydraulic with spring attachment when the metal plate on the front outside edge of this rectangular opening comes into contact with the vertical rod of the bottom lid of the dustbin (illustrated in Fig.
2, 3, & 4). As the vertical rod glides along the outside edge of the tray, the bottom lid of the dustbin is pushed open for the garbage to be unloaded into the tray (illustrated in Fig. 4).
3. When the rod attached to the bottom lid as claimed in 2 glides along the edge of the tray and comes into contact with the lever at the rear end, the spring with hydraulic attachment will withdraw the tray inwards to its original position (illustrated in Fig. 1) and the bottom lid of the dustbin will also return to its closed position (illustrated in Fig. 5).
4. When the open tray area is full, the covering lid will be hydraulically drawn over to close the opening. The hydraulic packer plate will then push the garbage to the rear of the compartment.
5. When the hydraulic packer plate as claimed in 4 is withdrawn, the covering lid as claimed in 4 will also return to its original position to leave the rectangular area empty and open for collection as claimed in 2.
6. The enclosed compartment as claimed in 1 can be automatically emptied when the discharge door of the compartment is opened by moving vertically upwards and the hydraulic packer plate as claimed in 4 will push the garbage completely out of the compartment (illustrated in Fig. 1 & 2).

7. The collection system is hygenic and virtuaily eliminates any form of littering during collection.
8. This system is obviously fast and economical since labour is reduced to basic minimum.
9. The dustbin as claimed in 1 & 2 can be made of'fibre glass, cast iron, aluminium, stainless steel, mild steel, tin, plastic or teflon.
10. This automatic garbage collection system would certainly revolutionise garbage collections throughout the world.
11. This principal of garbage collection can also be used for mechanical (illustrated in Fig.
7 & 8) semi mechanical and manual systems using a engine driven or manual push cart or manual collection.
12. The automatic garbage system substantially as described herein with reference to
Fig. 1-8 of the accompanying drawing.
CLAIMS
Amendments to the claims have been filed, and have the following effect:
Claims 1-3 and 6 above have been deleted or textually amended.
1. The specially designed trailer compartment (illustrated in Fig. 1) with relevant fittings will enable the garbage to be collected automatically from the specially designed garbage bins (illustrated in Fig. 5 & 6).
2. The enclosed compartment as claimed in 1 has rectangular open tray which is pushed outwards by a hydraulic with spring attachement when the metal plate on the front outside edge of this rectangular opening comes into contact with the vertical rod of the bottom lid of the garbage bin (illustrated in
Fig. 2, 3, & 4). As the vertical rod glides along the outside edge of the tray, the bottom lid of the garbage bin is pushed open for the garbage to be unloaded into the tray (illustrated in Fig. 4).
3. When the rod attached to the bottom lid as claimed in 2 glides along the edge of the tray and comes into contact with the lever at the rear end, the spring with hydraulic attachment will withdraw the tray inwards to its original position (illustrated in Fig. 1) and the bottom lid of the garbage bin will also return to its closed position (illustrated in Fig. 5).
