Description

SPECIFICATION Process and device for cleaning of horizontal water supply systems especially of ranney wells The invention relates to a process for cleaning of horizontal or near horizontal water supply systems with a metal filter structure, especially of Ranney wells and a device for the realization of the process.
On such territories, where the hydro-geological basis make it possible, i.e. where a gravel accumulation with permanent and considerable water reserves can be found, the so called Ranney wells settled there are extremely suitable for the provision of water supply demand. The Ranney wells usually have a shaft of 2 to 5 m diameter and 12 to 15 m depth from where radially 6 to 8 pieces of usually 40 to 70 m long horizontal or near horizontal slotted filter tubes made of metal extend.
In course of the settlement of Ranney wells, before their putting into production for the sake of the better permeability and higher water yield, on the other hand in systems already in operation for the sake of elimination of water yield decrease due to depositions of chemical and mechanical origin during the usage, the filter tubes must be cleaned.
According to the present established practice, the cleaning of the Ranney wells is made mainly by high pressure pumps with washing heads placed into the filter tubes. The pump with the highest pressure used for washing until now is cleaning the filter slots and the tube walls with a washing liquid injected in with a pressure of 180 atm.
The efficiency of the treatment is determined by the chemical (dissolving) and mechanical effect of the applied liquid. Since it is not advisable to expose the filter tube made of steel to corrosion effects, the application of chemical dissolvents is limited, at the same time the technical possibilities are limiting the rising of mechanical impact. This means that the efficiency of cleaning is practically not increasable in the traditional way.
The task to be solved by the invention is a process for cleaning of water supply systems of types mentioned in the introduction especially that of Ranney wells making possible more effective, quicker and cheaper cleaning compered to previous methods and at the same time wholly eliminating corrosion chemical effects contaminating the steel tubes.
The base of the invention is the recognition of the fact that the problem can be solved by a properly carried out explosion in the filter tubes during which there is first a pushing than a suckling effect, damping gradually. This way besides its mechanical effect, the power of explosion is injecting the liquid into the surrounding gravel layers as well through the slots and sucks in the small type fractions, improving by it the permeability in the zone around the filter tube and rising the water yield. This is why the method can be successfully applied at the putting into production of new Ranney wells for the increase of yields.
According to the invention the aim can be reached by introducing a blasting cord into the horizontal or near horizontal filter tubes and cleaning the filter tube and the surrounding by explosion the blasting cord placed in axially.
According to the invention it is advisable to start the cleaning with the blasting cord from the inner end of the filter tubes progressing toward the external end by 10-20 m sections.
According to one of the possible realizations of the invention the blasting cord can be brought from the pumped out shaft of the Ranney well to the section of the filter tube to be cleaned by fixing it to a charging device extendable with a quick connection.
According to another possible realization mode the blasting cord can be introduced into the section of the filter tube to be cleaned by fixing it on a flexible leading element through an arched pipe attached to the filter tube and educted above the static water level of the well.
According to the invention it is advisable after the explosion of the blasting cord, to carry out the washing with a high pressure washing head in the known way.
A device according to the present invention suitable for the working of the process according to invention, more exactly for the introduction of the blasting cord into the section to be cleaned has rod elements extendable to each other, the connection ending sections of which are formed with half diameter in similar length, where one of the ending section has a pin fitting into the hole; moreover, there is a stop ring on each of the rod elements before the connection ending sections, against one of them a sleeve enclosing the two connection ending sections while against the other one a compression spring is beared up, pressing the sleeve to the first stop ring; in addition there are fixed fastening elements assuring the attachment of the blasting cord to the mantle of rod elements.
Another device is suitable for the working of the other mode of realization of the process according to the invention, that has a flexible long body pushable into the filter tube provided with fastening elements for the attaching of the blasting cord at given distances. The body can be made of eg. steel band or glass fibre reinforced polyesther rod.
The invention is hereinafter described in detail by way examples with reference to the enclosed drawing, in which: Figure 1 is the perspective view in a dismounted way of a charging device according to the invention, suitable for the introduction of the blasting cord, Figure 2 is the side view of the charging device on Fig. 1 in mounted way and Figure 3 shows the situation of the charging device introducable into the filter tubes in a Ranney well.
As already described above, the essence of the invention is that a cord that can be purchased in the trade is introduced into the filter tubes to be cleaned of Ranney wells, and the filter tube and its surrounding is cleaned by the explosion of the blasting cord. There are several possibilities for the introduction and the establishing of the blasting cord into the filter tubes Figs. 1 and 2 shows a device suitable for the realization of one of the possibilities.
The charging device shown on the figures consists of rod elements 1 with a length of 1 to 2 meter extendable to each other, the connection ending sections 2 and 3 of which are formed with half diameter in similar length, where ending section 2 is provided with a radial hole 4, while the ending section 3 has a pin 5 fitting into the hole 4. There is a stop ring 6 fixed on the rod elements 1 before each connecting ending section 2 and 3, against one of these stop rings 6 a sleeve 7 enclosing the connecting ending sections 2,3, while against the other one a compression spring 8 is bearing up, what is pressing the sleeve 7 to the first stop ring 6, that are assuring the stability of the connection. Fastening rings 9 are fixed on the mantle of the rod elements 1, assuring the attaching and tightening of the blasting cord 10 when introducing it into the filter tubes.
At the operational use of the device of our invention all the filter tubes of the Ranney well have to be closed except that filter tube which is to be cleaned. After the aforesaid operation the water has to be pumped out of the shaft at least to the limit when the throat of the filter tube could be reached, thereafter the charging device fixing the blasting cord has to be pushed into the filter tube from the shaft by sections. The igniter housing for the starting of the detonating device must be fixed to the charging device as well. After having introduced the blasting cord until the needed section to be cleaned with the charging device, which length is preferably 10-20 meter, the explosion must be performed from the surface with the detonating machine while the power of this explosion not contaminate either the filter-tube or the charging device, at the same time increasing by several times the efficiency of cleaning, due to the mentioned facts.
Fig. 3 shows the other possible way to introduce the blasting cord into the filter tubes.
Here it can be seen clearly, that there is arched pipe 14 connected to the ending of the horizontal or near horizontal filter tube 12 starting from the bottom part of the Ranney well shaft 11, closable with the gate valve 13, exiting above the static water level of the Ranney well. By this solution the blasting cord 10 must be introduced into the filter tube section to be cleaned fixed to a flexible leading element 16, which elements body can be made of eg. flexible steel band or glass-fibre reinforced polyesther rod or any other material with similar characteristics. Leading element 16 is suitably provided by similar fixing rings 9 or other fixing elements, as at the charging device presented at the previous figure, suitable for the attaching and tightening of blasting cord 10 during the introduction. Explosion of the blasting cord 10 is here similarly performed from the surface with the help of a detonating machine.
The process according to the invention and the application of the devices for its working has been presented on the example of Ranney wells can be applicated in case of other simiiar structure water supply systems, eg. subsoil water drainage.
