Twisting wires together; breaking. - A rotatable hand tool for twisting wires together, particularly round packing cases, boxes &c., has an end provided with a flat base-plate and cover plate between which are pivoted a pair of jaws connected by toggle links to a spring-controlled bearing block guided in a slot in the base by aT-headed pivot pin and attached to a handle stem slidably and non-rotatably mounted in a guide block fixed to the base plate. The jaws 13 which are grooved at 16 and provided with hard steel gripping pins 17 at. a distance from the surface of the packing case &c., are pivoted at 14 under a cover plate 18 to a base plate 1 and are connected by toggle links 15 to a block 6 on the squared or flattened stem 3 of a handle 2 which is cranked and terminates in a revoluble breast piece. The pivot 7 has a T- end riding in a slot 11 in the base. The stem slides through a plate 4 formed in or secured to the base and through a fixed guide block 5, and the tool is normally held with the jaws open by a pair of springs 8. An inclined table 19 fixed to the base is used to turn out the ends of the wires so as to prevent severed ends falling between the jaws. The tool is pressed against the box &c. to close the jaws and is then rotated to twist the wires together, continued rotation severing the ends of the wires.
