Abstract

218,073. Clare, E. W. May 16. 1923. Bolts.-A securing bolt for use in woodwork, of the type having arms which are normally folded within the bolt-shank, but extend radially therefrom when the bolt is in position, comprises a hollow shank 3 having blades 15, 16 pivoted at 4, which are pressed inwards by a rod 5 when the bolt is in position. The leading edges of the blades 15, 16 are sharpened and the projecting portions, when the blades are folded, present a bevelled lead into the bolt hole. A countersunk hole 9 accommodates the nut 7 and a washer 8, and a flush surface is formed by a cover-plate 10 which is held in position by a wood-screw engagin a wooden plug 12 which is driven into the hollow bolt stem. The blades 15, 16 are mounted alongside each other, and present inclined edges 13 to the opening rod 5.
