Abstract

218,027. Davenport, J. A. April 7, 1923. Reinforced - concrete beams. - A non-continuous beam is supported by closed hoops or stirrups 6 of the kind described in Specification 4231/12, which encircle the beam bars 1 and the bars 3, 9 over the supports. The bars 3, 9 do not extend to the points of contraflexure which would exist if the beam were continuous, and the supports in effect are splayed, as shown by the dotted lines. The bars 9 may be bent as shown at 5, 8.
