Abstract
A mobile emergency and fire escape is a flexible device 16 which can be stored easily by spinning it around a circular reel 10 and it can be moved easily by the use of the handles 14 and the wheels 13 on the chassis. Used with the clamping device 17, it makes escape quick, safe and easy during an emergency and fire. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
A mobile and flexible, emergency and fire escape
This invention relates to a mobile and flexible, emergency and fire escape.
During an emergencyandfire in a building, the occupants rely on the fire exit, which is usually a staircase and the entrances ofthe building, to get out.
Anyone on the first floor and above, sometimes cannot reach the exit because either they are overcome bysmoke orthey cannotfindtheirway outthrough thefireandtheheat. Ladders do not help because they are not easy to store or practical to use in an emergency and fire.
According to the present invention, there is provided a mobile and flexible escape, which allows occupants to get out of a building quickly and safely. It comprises of a fireproof flexible device with rungs, in the form of a ladder. It is spunned round a circular reel, which is mounted on a two-wheeled chassis, in the form of a barrow with an attached handle. The chassis has two rests which keep it steady. During use this device is wheeled close to an opening in the building, a restwith two clamps and two hooks is securely attached.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 shows in perspective, the flexible device in operation.
Figure2 shows the reel, the mounting, the chassis andthewheels in detail.
Figure 3 shows the clamping device oven which the flexible device is unwound and hooked.
Figure 4shows the flexible device with rungs and the heat resistant and fireproof material, intheform of a cloth, attached.
Referring to the drawing, the flexible device 1 6with rungs 21 in the form of a ladder. It is spunned round a circular reel 10 mounted 11 on a chassis in,theform of a barrow, with thewheels 13 and two rests 14. It is spunned by using an attached handle 12.
Beforeunspinningtheflexibledevice, theclamping device 17, figure 3 is secured to an opening in the building with the help of the adjustable clamps 19.
The two supports 20 help the flexible device to stay away from the outside wall ofthe building. The hooks 18 are used to hookthe last rung oftheflexibledevice afterunspinning it. Byturning the handle i2theflexi- ble device 16 and the attached fire proof and heat resistant material 157 can be lowered. The last rung 21 is hooked on the hooks 18forstability.An escape is ready.
To rewindtheflexibledevice 16,therung 21 is releasedfromthe hooks 18,theclamps 19 loosened, and the clamping device 17 is removed. The handle 12 isturned anti-clockwise until theflexible device 16 and the lining material 15 are spunned roundthe circular reel 10.
1. A mobile and flexible emergency and fire escape, comprising a chassis on two wheels with two stands, in the form of a barrow. Mounted on the chassis, a circular reel holdsthespunnedflexible device, which is wound and unwound with a handle.
2. A mobile and flexible emergency and fire escape as claimed in claim 1 where a clamping device is provided which is used with the flexible device in the lowering and securing of it for safety and stability with two clamps and two hooks.
3. A mobile and flexible emergency and fire escape as in claim 1 and claim 2 which provides protection from heat and fire by means of a fire and heat resistant material attached at the back ofthe flexible device, when climbing down.
4. Amobile and flexible emergency andfire escape which is fireproof.
5. Amobile and flexible emergency and fire escape as in claim 1 which can be moved easily bythe use of the two wheels attached to the chassis, in the form of a barrow, from one place to another.
