Abstract

217,638. Cheshire, E. March 15, 1923. Circular-saw machines.-In a machine for sawing and trimming printing-machine slugs or other materials, the work is clamped between jaws 38<1>, 25<1>, the former fixed to a sliding work table 23, which is moved by hand in a groove 22 in a main table 21; the jaw 25<1> is adjustable with respect to the sliding table by means of a serrated bar 27 which engages the serrated end 26 of a bar 25 attached to the jaw 25<1>. The bar 27 is moved by a handle 36 and wedge 32 against a spring 34. For adjusting the length of material cut off, an end gauge 44 slides on the jaw 38<1>, which is provided with an adjusting screw 40, scale 38, micrometer head 41', and a disengaging feed-nut 47 for rough adjustment. For the re-adjustment of the zero of the micrometer 41' with a new cutter, a gauge 64, Fig. 9, is clamped on the table 21, and the gauge 44 adjusted to it. For mitering the work, a gauge 54 is mounted against the jaw 38<1>, provided with a face 55 at the required angle and a clamping bar 59 which is engaged by the jaw 25<1>. The width of this jaw is made to exceed the distance between the ribs on the slugs.
