Abstract

216,980. Reddy, A. J. March 28, 1923. Rails, metallic built-up and reversible.-Twopart rails, Fig. 1, comprise a tread part 1 with a head 3 and a web 5 terminating in a bulb 7 having projections 9, 11, and a similar base part 2 having a head the same as head 3, or a flange 15, and a web 6, bulb 8, and projections 10, 12. The inner projections 9, 10 engage the adjacent webs 6, 5 leaving spaces 16, 17, while one outer projection 12 forms a seat for the key 13. Three-part rails, Fig. 2, comprise a tread part 18 and base parts 19, 20, the tread part having a web 29 terminating in a bulb 30 and each base part' having a web 21, bulb 23 and projection 27 so as to leave spaces 33, 34, 35. The base flanges may be modified for use with chairs, and the outer projections arranged to engage a key. The rail sections break joint. The Provisional Specification states also that the rails may have webs, ridges, or projections engaging corresponding grooves or recesses in the adjacent part.
