Regulating-switches.-An adjustable resistance 16 is placed in parallel with the resistance between any two adjacent contact studs of a resistance 15 by means of a rotary switch comprising a pivoted arm 7 a continuous contact 14 and contact fingers 11, 12 separated by an insulating block 13. In a modification shown in dotted lines in which a switch having a single contact finger is employed the adjustable resistance is connected in parallel with the first step of the resistance 15. In a further modification the pivoted arm 7 is insulated from both contact fingers 11, 12, the adjustable resistance 16 being connected to one of the fingers through the continuous contact 14 and directly to the other contact finger.
