Abstract

The invention provides a means of collecting and disposing of any waste matter deposited by natural means on a base such as a sidewalk, grass surface, snow, wooden walks etc. The device comprises a tube within which is stored guide wires 8. After releasing the guide wires 8 and placing a bag 9 inside the guide wires the device can be placed over the waste material 12; pulling on nooze string 4 will then cause the waste material 12 to be sealed within the bag 9, ready for disposal. The disposable bags could be carried inside the handle of the stick and are thus readily available. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Dual purpose cane This device consists of three telescopic tubes (of plastic or aluminum), four or six noose guide wires, a string forming a noose and a handle serving as a holder of disposable plastic bags and has the appearance of a walking stick and can be used as such.
To operate: Fig. 1, release the end of the noose string(4) from the hook(1 1) on the outer tubing(2). Fig.2, twist the handle(1) to the left which unlocks the handle from the outer tubing(2). Pull the handle to extend the inner tubing(5) and twist to the right which will lock together the two inner tubings(5)(6), shown in Fig.9. The smaller inner tubing(5) has a slot(10) parallel to the length of the tubing, two inches short of the top and bottom. On the end of the tubing toward the noose, the slot turns 90 to the right forming a letter "L". There is a rivet protruding through the slot, fastened to the wali of the second inner tubing(6).Fig.3, Push the handle(1) toward the outer tubing(2). This extends the guide wires(8) of the noose(4) to a pre-determined diameter. Fig.4, turn the device upside down and place a plastic bag(9) inside the guide wires(8) and fold over the noose(4).
Fig.5, Place the bagged noose end of the apparatus over the waste matter(12) and rest it firmly on the base (sidewalk, grass, snow, etc.). Fig.6, pull on the ends of the-noose string(4) and the noose will then separate the waste matter(12) from the base. Lock the ends of the noose string(4) onto the provided hook(11) on the outer tubing(2). Fig.7, turn the device upside down and unfold the plastic bag(9) and tie. Fig.8, release the ends of the noose string(4) for the hook(11) which will enable the guide wires(8) to return to the open position, enabling you to remove the bag.
To close: pull the handle(1) which retracts the noose guides(8) into the outer tubing(2) and turn the handle to the left, pushing the inner tubing(5) into place. Lock the handle by turning to the right and pull the noose string(4) tight, and secure onto the hook(1 1).
Figures 1-9 will be found on the five attached sheets of drawings.
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows: 1. This device is a manually operated, three tube, telescoping apparatus made of pipes (aluminum or plastic), in which the outer pipe serves as a housing for the working parts, the smaller innermost tube has a slot parallel to the length of the tube, two inches short of the top and the bottom, on the end of the tubing away from the handle, the slot turns 90 degrees to the right, forming a letter "L#, there is a rivet protruding through the slot, fastened to the wall of the second inner tubing, or middle tubing, the innermost tube is withdrawn by pulling the handle, and is locked to the middle tube by turning the handle clockwise, the handle is then pushed back into its original position and the two inner tubes (in combination longer than the outer tube) now act as a unit to extend a noose and it's guide wires beyond the bottom of the outer tube, a plastic bag is positioned inside the noose guide wires, and the edges then folded back outside of the guide wires, the noose guide wires when extended are guided outward by a special washer in the bottom end of the outer tubing which determines the outer diameter of the noose, so that when the apparatus is placed over waste matter and pressed firmly against the base and the noose is tightened by pulling a noose string upward toward the handle, the noose will separate the matter cleanly from the base and enclose it in the plastic bag.
2. The device of claim 1. in which the handle stores a supply of plastic disposable bags.
