Abstract

A cosmetic product case consists of three elements pivotable about a common axis, comprising a cover (3), an intermediate holding panel (4) and a door (5). The holding panel (4) and door (5) define, in the closed position, a housing to receive interchangeable cosmetic product inserts. The door (5) can be moved to an open position in which the inserts can be removed from the holding panel (4) and replaced. The holding panel (4) preferably has holes (8) to receive trays containing the cosmetic products. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Case for cosmetic products The present invention relates to a cosmetic product case.
Presently available make-up product cases are provided with a plurality of fixed housings, in which the cosmetic product is arranged, for example subdivided into different colors.
As is known, each user prefers those colors which are effective to suit her complexion, appearance and make-up style. It is often difficult to provide all the colors in a single case, in particular if the case is of the portable type.
Moreover, when a preferred color has been exhausted, it is not possible to replace it individually and the entire case, which still contains the remaining, scarcely used, colors, has to be disposed of.
Accordingly it is an object of the present invention to provide a cosmetic product case which is effective to overcome the above-mentioned drawbacks, by providing the user with the possibility of replacing exhausted colors, thereby obviating the need to buy a new case.
This invention consists in a case for cosmetic products, comprising a plurality of co-operating elements pivotable about a single axis, two of the elements defining, in the closed position, a housing to receive interchangeable cosmetic product inserts, and being movable to an open position in which the inserts can be removed and replaced.
Preferably, the said two elements comprise a holding panel in which the inserts are contained, and a door which engages the bottom face of the holding panel and is pivotable away from the bottom face to allow the inserts to be removed and replaced.
Suitably, three elements are provided, the third element comprising a cover which is pivotable against the top face of the holding panel.
The invention is illustrated, by way of example only, in the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a front view of a cosmetic product case according to the invention, in an open condition ready for use; Figure 2 is a perspective view of the case, completely opened and with cosmetic inserts removed therefrom; Figure 3 is a rear view of the case; and Figure 4 is a cross-section through a cosmetic insert for the case.
With reference to the drawings, the cosmetic product case 1 has a book-like structure consisting of three elements, all of which are pivoted at 2 with respect to a common axis 2'.
The above-mentioned three elements comprise a cover 3, an intermediate holding panel 4 and a door 5.
The door 5 is effective to close the bottom portion of the holding panel 4, defining therewith a housing 6, within which inserts 7 are held (Figure 4).
The panel 4 is formed with a plurality of holes 8 each of which has, at the top, an inwardly extending shoulder 9, which slightly reduces the crosssection of the hole at the top. On the said door 5, there are formed annular ridges 10.
The cover 3, which has a substantially similar shape to the case 1, is provided, on its inner surface, with a mirror 15.
Each insert 7 consists of a vessel 11, having a top rim 12 and a bottom wall 13, containing a cosmetic product 14.
Conventional snap engaging means 16 are provided to hold together the panel 4 and the door 5.
Conventional snap engaging means 17 are provided to hold the cover 3 in the closed position.
During assembly of the case, each insert 7, which may be available as a sealed package separate from the case, is housed, by threading it from the bottom, into one of the holes 8 formed in the panel 4, in such a way that the top edge of the vessel 11 abuts against the shoulder 9 of the hole 8.
Upon closing the door 5, the annular ridge 10 will press against the bottom wall 13 of the vessel 11 thereby holding the insert 7 in the housing 6 formed between said door 5 and the panel 4.
The thus completed case will have the appearance illustrated in Figure 1.
