Abstract
A decorative hair slide comprises an embellisher (1) to which is attached a clip having a fixed arm (4) and a pivoting arm (8) which is opened against a spring (10) by pressing on the extension (12). The fixed arm (4) is flexible, which allows it to be adapted to embellishers (1) of different curvatures. In an alternative embodiment (not shown) the pivoting arm is attached directly to the embellisher. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
A hair slide principally for hair styling
The present invention relates to a new type of hair slide, of the type used mainly for feminine hair-styles.
A hairslide of known type generally comprises a curved rectangular embellisher under which is riveted
one of the two branches of a metal clip. This latter has,
at one end, a pivot shaft, and at its opposite end means
of latching and unlatching which are constituted: -either by a spring snap of the movable branch of the clip over a small knob on the other branch; or byforcible engagement beneath the movable
hooks of a latch said to be with "automatic release", and provided with two lateral buttons which are pressed togetherto open the slide.
These devices are relatively complicated, and therefore costly. On the other hand, the branch of the clip intended to be fixed below the embellisher being rigid, it is necessary to give it the same curvature. In other words, itis necessary to make different clips to fit to embellishers of different curvatures.
The present invention is intended to avoid these disadvantages by achieving a hair slide which is both of low cost and particularlyeasyto use.
A hair slide according to the invention comprises a curved embellisher, below the concave face of which is fixed, nearto one end, a transverse pivot shaft on which is pivoted one end of the movable branch of a clip, and it is characterised in that this movable branch is extended by a press-tongue projecting beyond the pivot shaft, whilst a return spring tends to press the movable branch back against the fixed branch.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the fixed branch is made from a flexible plastic material, which allowsittobestuckagainstthe concave face of different types of embellishers, even if they have varying curvatures.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the fixed branch is constituted directly by the embel lisheritself, on the concave face of which there projects one of the two knuckles ofthe hinge for pivoting the movable branch.
According to another charateristic of the invention, the concave part of the fixed branch carries a row of projecting teeth, opposite which the movable branch has an open slot into which the teeth are engaged when the clip is closed.
The attached drawing, given byway of non-limiting example, will allow the characteristics ofthe invention to be better understood.
Figure 1 shows a hair slide embellisher of known type.
Figure 2 shows the fixed branch of a clip according to the invention.
Figure 3 shows the corresponding movable branch.
Figure 4 shows the assembled hair slide.
Figure 5 shows the concave face of an embellisher constituting another varient according to the invention.
Figure 6 shows the corresponding movable branch.
Figure 7 shows the assembled hair slide corres ponding to the varient in the Figures 5 and 6.
The hair slide shown in Figures 1 to4comprises: -a curved embellisher 1, which may be of any shape in relation to the desired decorative effect. To its internal concave face 2 the back of a branch 4, made from a flexible material, is stuck by means of a band 3 of adhesive product. This branch 4 has, at one end, some turned-down flanges 5, which constitute one of the knuckles of a pivot hinge and into which a transverse shaft 6 is introduced. The internal face of the fixed branch 4 carries a range ofteeth 7.
Figure 3 shows the movable branch 8, which, after assembling with the fixed branch 4, will constitute the clip 4,8 of the hair slide. The branch 8 has a pivot knuckle 9 complementary to the knuckles 5 ofthe branch 4, and also able to receive the transverse shaft 6. The assembly of this hinge is completed by a spring 10 which is arranged between the knuckles 5 and traversed by the shaft 6 on the assembled and completed hair slide (Figure 4). This spring 10 returns the movable branch againstthefixed branch 4.
In addition, the movable branch 8 is pierced with a longitudinal slot 11 into which the teeth 7 locate when the clip is closed (Figure 4).
According to the invention, the movable branch 8 projects beyond the pivot shaft 6 by an extension 12 which constitutes a press-tongue.
The operation is as follows:
The clip 4, 8, of which the fixed branch 4 is flexible, is assembled by fitting the shaft 6 and the spring 10 in place. Because of its flexibility, the fixed branch 4 may be stucktothe concaveface 2 of various embellishers 1 of different shapes in relation to the desired effect. In otherwords, the manufacturer need only have one standard clip 4,8 for fitting to the various embellishers 1 of his collection.
The hair slide so assembled appears as shown in
Figure 4.
In orderto open it, it suffices for the userto press the extension 12 as indicated in Figure 4 by the arrow 13.
This has the effect of opening the clip 4, 8. The latter may then be placed in the hair, after which it suffices for the user to release the extension 12 in orderthat the clip 4,8 shall close automatically. The teeth 7 engaged in the slot 11 ensure a good grip on the hair.
In the varient shown in the Figures 5 to 7, the fixed branch is constituted by the em be 11 ish er itself, its face 2 carrying two projections directly constituting the pivot knuckles 5. In this case, the teeth 7 project directly from the concave face 2 with which they are made in one piece.
The movable branch 8 may be identical to that in
Figure 3. Its assembly is carried out similarly by fitting a pivot shaft 6 passing through the return spring 10.
Once assembled, this hair slide appears as shown in
Figure 7. The operation remains the same, namely that it is sufficientto press on the extension 12, as shown by the arrow 13, to open the slide which may then be placed in the hair. The slide closes automatically, by the action of the spring 10, as soon as the user ceases to press on the extension 12.
Itwill be seen thatthe hairslide according to the
invention has one important advantage both for the
maker (simplicity of manufacture; possibility of having a single clip 4, 8forseveral types of embellishers 1 ) and forthe user (simplicity of use with only one hand).
Claims (7)
