Abstract

A mounting device consists of a supporting element (6) which has a head (7) and a rib (8) perpendicular to each other, to be fixed to the wall (13) by means of screws and expanding plugs in such a way that the rib (8) is positioned between the head (7) and the wall (13). On the back of each accessory there is a hole (4) which allows the head (7) of the supporting element to pass through, and a radial shaped slot (5) where the rib (8) of the element (6) rests, so that the back of the accessory is locked between the wall (13) and the head (7) of the supporting element by resting on this rib (8). <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Wall attachment device for bathroom and toilet accessories The present invention concerns a device for enabling the attachment to walls of accessories such as a soap dish, a glass holder, a toilet roll holder or a towel rail etc., in bathrooms and toilets.
At present metal or ceramic accessories such as soap dish, glass holder, towel rail, toilet roll holder etc., for bathrooms and toilets are built in, that is walled in, or are fixed with screws and/or glue.
The object of the present invention is to provide for the attachment to walls of such accessories as referred to above by means of a supporting element to be fixed to the wall with screws and expanding plugs.
According to the present invention there is provided a device for enabling the mounting of accessories for bathrooms and toilets on a wall, comprising a support element which has a head and a stem or rib extending perpendicularly thereto for fixing to a wall by means of using screws, such that the stem or rib is placed between the head and the wall in use, and wherein the back of the accessory has an opening consisting of a hole which allows the head of the supporting element to be placed through it, and a radial slot, communicating with said hole, and for accommodating the stem or rib of the supporting element so that the back of the accessory is tightly fixed between the wall, in use, and the head of the supporting element.
This element would not only enable the simple and comfortable fixing and positioning of the accessory but also enable the accessory to be quickly removed or substituted.
The invention, will now be described further, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Fig. 1 shows a typical bathroom accessory i.e. a soap dish; Fig. 2 shows a perspective view of the supporting element fixed to the wall and the back of an accessory; Fig. 3 shows a vertical section of the accessory fixed to the wall by the supporting element; and Fig. 4 shows a partial section of Fig. 2 in the direction of the arrows IV--IV.
In Fig. 2, an accessory 1 for bathrooms and toilets is shown, with a posterior wall or back 2 in which, in accordance with the invention, there is an opening 3 comprising a circular hole 4 and a radial slot 5 connected to each other, the slot 5 having a width smaller than the diameter of the hole 4.
For fixing the accessory 1 to the wall there is a supporting element, possibly made of plastics material, generally "T" shaped, with a head 7 which could, though need not necessarily, be round and a stem or central back rib 8 which is perpendicular to the surface of the head 7 to form a right angle. The head 7 of the aforementioned supporting element 6 is slightly narrower than the diameter of the hole 4 in the back 2 of the accessory.
The stem or rib 8 is also slightly narrower than the slot 5 in the back 2, while the protruding part of the stem or rib 8 from the head 7 is of substantially the same thickness as the posterior wall or back 2 of the accessory.
The surface of the head 7 which faces the stem or rib 8 comprises, on one portion, inclined planes of presentation and, on the other portion, scoring, grooves or another form of gripping projections 10.
At the same time the stem or rib 8 presents, on the side adjacent to the inclined planes 9 of the head 7 two side bevels 11. Finally, the head 7 and the stem or rib 8 of the supporting element 6 have a pair of holes 12 one of which is larger in diameter than the other, to enable a correction of the position of the element 6 itself while it is being fixed to the wall.
The supporting element 6 is fixed to the chosen wall by using a pair of screws 14 placed inside the holes 12 of the element (see Fig. 2), and screwed through expandable plugs which have already been fixed to the wall (see Fig. 3 and 4).
As shown in the drawings, the supporting element 6 appears with its head 7 spaced out from the wall 13 by means of the stem or rib 8, which rests directly against the wall, and with inclined planes 9 and the bevels 11, respectively of the head 7 and of the stem or rib 8 in the upper part of the element.
In these circumstances the fixing of the accessory 1 to the wall is achieved by placing, first the head 7 of the element 6 through the hole 4 on the back 2 of the accessory and then by moving the latter down until the stem or rib 8 of the element 6 is placed inside the radial slot 5 which extends upwardly from the hole 4.
Such fitting is facilitated by the inclined planes 9 and the bevels 11 and it enables the back or posterior side 2 of the accessory 1 to be tightly locked, between the wall 13 and the head 7 of the supporting element 6, at the same time the accessory is removable if required.
Once mounted the accessory is kept vertical and centred transversely on the stem or rib 8 while the head 7 is engaged on the internal surface of the back 2 at the sides of the slot 5 opposite the wall 13 ensuring that the accessory is tightly gripped, by virtue of the scoring grooves or gripping projections 10.
