Abstract

A device for storing a plurality of disposable razors (52) has a flat base portion (10) and two side wall portions (20, 22) substantially perpendicular to the base portion. The side wall portions (20, 22) are provided with a groove (28) defined by two parallel ribs (32, 34). In use, the razors (52) are slid into the groove and may be stacked upon each other. The device is fixed to a wall by means of adhesive pads. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Storage device The invention relates to a storage device, and in particular, but not exclusively, to a device for storing disposable razors.
Disposable razors, i.e. razors which are completely disposed of when their blade no longer provides a good shave, are in common use. They are normally bought in packs containg several disposable razors. This can create a storage problem not encountered with razors in which only the blade, or a cartridge containing the blade, is disposable. In practice, half a dozen or more razors may need to be stored, whereas previously only one razor required storage.
In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, a device for storing a plurality of razors, of the type having a shaving head and a handle, comprises a wall-mounting portion and two support portions extending substantially perpendicularly to the wall-mounting portion, the support portions each being provided with a groove inclined to the wall-mounting portion, the grooves being opposed and substantially parallel.
In accordance with a second aspect of the invention, there is provided a device for storing a plurality of razors of the type having a shaving head and a handle, the device comprising a pair of transversely spaced, generally parallel side members connected to a base member by which the device can be mounted on a wall, the side member containing respective upwardly inclined, elongate grooves or recesses which are parallel and mutually opposed whereby to form supporting guides for slidably receiving opposite end portions of the heads of said plurality of razors.
Preferably, the wall-abutting portion and/or the support portions are substantially planar, and the support portions are preferably provided with projections which fit into corresponding recesses in the wall-abutting portions.
In order to be able to accommodate razors which have heads narrower than the gap between the grooves, the invention also includes a device as described, having an insert for fitting into the grooves, the insert comprising a lamina having a gap to allow passage of a razor handle.
By way of example only, a specific embodiment of the invention will now be described, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of one embodiment of a razor holder according to the invention, With a number of disposable razors stored therein; Figure 2 is a partly exploded perspective view of the razor holder of Fig. 1, and Figure 3 is a perspective view of an insert which may be used with small razors.
The illustrated razor holder comprises a flat, plastics base portion 10 having two opposed, parallel edges 12, a semicircular head 14 and a tapered tail 16. A rim 18 extends around the underside of edges 12 and the periphery of the semicircular head 14 and, in use, abuts a wall (not shown).
Two plastics wall pieces 20,22 are attached to the base portion 10. The side walls 20 and 22 each comprise a flat portion 24 having a peripheral rim 26. The rim 26 is interrupted at two locations 28, 30 and between these interruptions extend two inclined parallel ribs 32, 34, the upper rib 32 being the same height (usually about 3mm) as the peripheral rim 26 and the lower rib being substantially higher, for example about 8mm high. The ribs 32, 34 define an inclined groove 36, which will be used to support one end of the head of a disposable razor, as will be explained.
Each wall 20, 22 is provided with three elongate projections 38, 40, 42 which extend along the rear, straight edge of the wall 20. The projections are shaped to be a press-fit into corresponding slots 44, 46, 48 in the base portion 10, which are positioned close to, and parallel to, the edges 12. The side wall 22 is a mirror image of the side wall 20, and corresponding reference numerals have been used for corresponding elements in the Figures.
In use, the side walls are positioned on the base by pressing the projections 38, 40, 42 into the slots 44, 46, 48, such that the side walls are substantially perpendicular to the base, as shown in Figure 1.
The walls may be glued in position if desired.
When assembled, the dispenser is affixed to a wall, for example by means of adhesive pads (not illustrated) on the rear surface on the base portion 10, such that the grooves 36 are inclined upwardly.
The side walls provide two facing, parallel grooves 36, inclined to the vertical at an angle of about 30 , each groove being able to support one end of the head of a disposable razor 52, as shown in Figure 1.
Whenithe dispenser is in position on a wall, as described above, several razors 52 may be stacked therein, and the uppermost razor may be removed through the interruptions 28 in the rim 26 of the side walls 20,22.
The distance between the grooves 36 is about 5cm, such that most popular disposable razors may be stacked in the dispenser. However, the heads of some razors are smaller, and may fall through the space between the side walls. In that case, an insert 54 illustrated in Figure 3, is placed in the grooves 36, resting on the ribs 34. The insert has a cut-out portion 56 which allows the handles, but not the heads, of disposable razors to pass through, the insert supporting the razor heads.
The inclined channels may be formed in ways other than that illustrated. For example the side walls 20, 22 could simply be that panels with inclined grooves formed therein. The means of attaching the side walls 20,22 to the base portion 10 is also capable of variation and any suitable affixing means may be used.
Preferably, the razor holder is made of a plastics material but any other suitable material could of course be used.
