Description

SPECIFICATION A dog's water closet The present invention relates to a dog's water closet.
According to the present invention there is provided a dog's water closet comprising a lower housing having a peripheral wall with an opening for the dog to enter and leave, the housing including a lower platform which is inclined downwardly towards a drain, a spray device for spraying water to flush the housing, an upstanding column within the housing to simulate a tree and a cover mounted to the column and spaced above the upper edge of the peripheral wall of the housing.
Such a structure is one which has a rational design and yet it is simple and efficient in use.
Advantageously the peripheral wall is cylindrical and the cover is conical and coaxial with the cylindrical peripheral wall. The upstanding column may be disposed centrally within the housing and the spray device may include a pipe provided with lateral orifices which spray water throughout the enclosure but away from the opening.
In order that the present invention may more readily be understood the following description is given merely by way of example, reference being made to the accompanying drawing in which the sole Figure is a perspective view of one embodiment of dog's water closet according to the invention shown in quarter cross-section to illustrate the interior.
Referring to the drawing it can be seen that the dog's water closet consists of a lower housing formed by a cylindrical peripheral wall 1 having an opening 2 for the dog to enter and leave. The lower part of the housing is closed by a circular platform 3 which is inclined downwardly towards a drain or drainage channel 4 which may be provided with a grid. The lower part of the peripheral wall is formed with a series of arches 7 which permit the free circulation of water below the platform 3. The housing will preferably take the form of a polyester covered sheet reinforced with fibreglass.
On the central part of the platform 3 there extends a vertically upstanding column 5, whose lower part is provided with means 6 which permit the assembly to be correctly anchored to the ground.
In the vicinity of the opening 2, there is located a pipe 8 provided with a tap 9 and with a series of lateral orifices so disposed that when the tap is opened, water is sprayed under pressure in all directions, except towards the opening 2.
The upper part of the column 5 is provided with support elements 10 in the form of a cross, which permit the fixing of a cover 11, formed in the present case by a cylindrical wall 12 topped by a conical portion 13.
In operation, a dog is encouraged to enter by the opening 2 and to urinate on the central column 5, which is intended to simulate a tree and can be impregnated with the characteristic odour of dogs' urine, thus acting as an incentive to the micturition of the dog. Both this operation and defecation are performed by the animal without offering this unpleasant spectacle to the public. Once the animal leaves the water closet, his master can actuate the tap 9 causing water to wash the animal's excreta towards the drain 4 through which they may be emptied.
The base of the body is provided with arches 7, or similar apertures, which permit the circulation of water which may be either sprinkler water or rain water.
1. A dog's water closet comprising a lower housing having a peripheral wall with an opening for the dog to enter and leave, the housing including a lower platform which is inclined downwardly towards a drain, a spray device for spraying water to flush the housing, an upstanding column within the housing to simulate a tree and a cover mounted on the column and spaced above the upper edge of the peripheral wall of the housing.
2. A water closet according to claim 1, wherein the peripheral wall is cylindrical.
3. A water closet according to claim 2, wherein the cover is conical and coaxial with the cylindrical peripheral wall of the housing.
4. A water closet according to claim 1,2 or 3 wherein the column is disposed centrally within the housing.
5. A water closet according to any preceding claim wherein the spray device includes a pipe provided with lateral orifices for projecting water into the housing and so that it is not directed towards the opening.
6. A water closet according to claim 5 wherein a tap is provided to control a flow of water to the pipe.
7. A water closet according to any preceding claim wherein the housing consists of a polyester material covered sheet reinforced with fibreglass.
8. A water closet according to any preceding claim wherein the lower part of the housing is provided with a series of arches which enable water to circulate freely there below.
9. A dog's water closet substantially as hereinbefore described with reference and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
