Rotary transformers.-A polyphase motor and single-phase generator are combined' mechanically and magnetically into a single unit for transforming polyphase currents into single-phase currents at different frequency. The stator and rotor are each provided with two windings superposed in the same or in neighbouring slots, and the squirrel-cage winding acts as a choke for the inverse rotating component of the single-phase armature. A construction described comprises a two-pole stator and squirrel-cage rotor having under the bars of the rotor a four-pole continuouscurrent exciting winding and on the stator an additional four-pole single-phase winding.
