Abstract

A childs rear seat headrest, which can be mounted over the back of the rear seat of a car and secured by means of hooks and is held in position by means of a childs rear seat safety harness. The headrest comprises a steel framework secured to a hardboard backing to which is stitched a fabric covered sponge cushion. <IMAGE>

SPECIFICATION Childs Headrest for Car Rear Seat This invention relates to a childs headrest for a car rear seat.

Headrests in rear seats of cars are uncommon, especially in estate cars.

When children are over the age of three years, they are generally too big for standard childrens car seats. Adult rear seat belts are too big and consequently a childs seat belt would probably be fitted often accompanied by a 'booster seat' so that the child can see out of the windows.

There is no headrest specifically made for children to provide them with lateral support and restraint for their heads, this headrest provides both.

Specific embodiments of this invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective the headrest fitted to a seat.

Figure 2 shows front elevation of the headrest.

Figure 3 shows side elevation of the headrest.

Figure 4 shows plan view of the headrest.

Figure 5 shows in perspective the rear view and fixings of the headrest.

Referring to the drawing the headrest comprises a steel frame work 1, which is secured to a hardboard backing 2, to which is stitched a fabric covered sponge headrest 3. The framework 1 slips over the back of a rear car seat 4, figure 1 and is supported by the curved hangars 5 in figure 5. The headrest is held in position by a childs seat belt (not shown).
