Making at predetermined times.-In apparatus of the type in which a gas or electric heater is put in action at a predetermined time by means of an alarm clock and put out of action when the water has boiled by the motion of a lever supporting the tea-pot, the water being automatically forced into the pot by steam pressure, the kettle e and tea-pot g are supported on stands on the ends of vertical rods k, h attached to opposite ends of a lever j. The winder of the alarm-clock a engages a fork which, in the form shown, opens a cock to admit gas to a burner d lighted by a pilot-jet r. When the water in the kettle e boils it is forced up a pipe f arranged as shown into the tea-pot g, which then sinks. A cock c is then actuated by the rod h through a chain to cut off the gas supply to the burner d and admit it to a lighting-jet p. The rod is locked on descending by a spring catch o and closes an electric circuit to ring an alarm. Specifications 22077/91, 7570/11, and 530/13 are referred to.
