Lids and covers.-In a saucepan or like lid having a group of perforations b near its periphery to enable it to serve as a strainer and also to permit escape of steam &c., a pivoted plate c adapted to cover the perforations, attached to or integral with the handle e, is provided. The plate carries a pin or rivet g working in an arcuate slot f in the lid, and at the underside the rivet g is secured to a plate or disc h. pivoted also on the central pivot d, and adapted to prevent escape of steam through the slot f.
