Controllers.-A motor controller for use with sewing machine motors comprises a resistance switch inside a case operated by a pedal outside the casing and has in addition the following features :-(i) The casing is constructed of a bent sheet metal cover part 8, Fig. 7, and two flat sheet metal side parts 9, 10, Fig. 2. The three parts are erected on a base 2 by means of tongues and screws. (ii) One side 10 carries a pivoted contact member 18 and resistance studs 17. The opposite side 9 is formed with a curved slot admitting one arm of an L-shaped pedal lever 28 working on a fulcrum 27 and communicating movement to the member 18 by means of a peg 31 fitting between two cheeks 20. (iii) The pedal is provided with a detachable extension piece 41 for knee operation, which is facilitated by attaching the base plate to the underframe of the sewing machine by a clamping screw 46.
