Fastenings for doors. - A lock for lavatories &c. is adapted to be opened, after payment of a fee, by an attendant provided with a key, the coin or coins inserted being maintained in front of a window, until the lock is operated, for inspection by the attendant. The lock has a pivoted latch d, which is actuated by a key inserted between guides 14 to engage a pivoted leg o of a pivoted dog m. When the key is turned the leg o engages an arm 17 of the latch and raises it. The latch is lifted from the inside by a dog 20 on the shaft 21 of the inside handle engaging the inner end of the latch. The lock is attached by screws c passing through a plate a. It has a cover u which is secured in position by a downwardly projecting lip v engaging behind flangesw on the plate a. and by a screw x passing through a lug y at the bottom of the cover. Exhibiting coins.- The coins are held in a chamber z, where they are visible through a window in the lock cover, by a lever 6 pivoted at 7. When the latch is lifted, a projection 8 thereon tilts the lever to allow the coins to drop into a money-box 4. Indicators.-An indicator f bearing the words ' engaged ' ' vacant ' on adjacent faces is pivoted between brackets h. It is turned to expose the word ' engaged ' by a leg l l of the dog m engaging a cam plate k depending from one of the faces. When the inside handle is turned a projection 24 of the dog 20 engages a third leg n of the dog m to restore this to normal position and the indicator returns by gravity to expose the word ' vacant.' Registering.-A counter r is operated by the top face of the indicator f engaging an arm 8 thereon when the latch is actuated by key.
