Abstract

The device, which operates manually, is composed of a frame to which are attached several rows of multi-sided blocks, each row having a spindle on which the blocks rotate. The rows are situated one below the other, and running between each block are dividers which prevent one block affecting another during operation. Each block is controlled by a ratchet system, enabling it to rotate in only one direction and to be held firmly in the required position. The loaded frame is encased with each row of blocks accessible for manipulation through windows which also display, at any one time, a single feature of the several shown on each block. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Child's private tutor The "child's private tutor" is an educational and amusement device which operates manually. It is composed of a frame to which is attached several rows comprising an equal number of multi-sided blocks, each row having a spindle on which the blocks rotate. The rows are spaced one below the other, and running from top to bottom dividing each block are a series of plastic strips which allow any chosen block to rotate without affecting another.
Every block has an individual rachet system to enable it to turn in only one direction and also hold it firmly in the required position with one facet displaying the desired symbol or image. The loaded frame is encased with each row visible through a horizontal opening.
Applied finger-tip preasure to the lower section of a face will turn the corresponding block to show another feature.
1. An educational and amusement device comprising a frame with spindles on which a number of multi-sided blocks rotate, means for controlling the rotation of blocks, dividers separating blocks, all of which is encased.
2. An educational and amusement device as claimed in claim 1 wherein the rotation of the blocks are controlled by a type of rachet system.
3. An educational and amusement device as claimed in claim 1 wherein dividers lie between each block allowing individual rotation.
4. An educational and amusement device as claimed in claim 1 wherein the case has windows essential to the manipulation and viewing of the blocks inside.
5. An educational and amusement device substantially as described herein with reference to drawings supplied.
