Abstract

Liquid fuels are obtained by agitating and heating to boiling point crude oil or other hydrocarbon oil, a little ammonia, soda, or other alkali, and fresh or salt water in excess of the oil. In an example 35 pints of oil, 64 points of water, and 1 pint of alkali are used.
