Abstract

A brush support has an upper forked construction for supporting a brush over a paint tin open top and is attachable by projections at its lower end to the rim of the tin. Additionally, the support provides a cross wire for wiping excess paint from an overloaded brush and an integral handle is provided for carrying purposes. The device may be hung up when not in use and used for storing a paint brush. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION A paint brush supporting device capable of attachment to paint tins or paint containers The invention relates to paint containers and the support of paint brushes when not actually being used.
The object of the invention is to overcome inconveniences encountered when painting.
The invention permits of the paint brush, when not in actual use, being suspended by its handle, over the open paint container, thus keeping it clean and yet free to drip.
Additionally a wire attached to the device and arranged to pass across the upper rim of the paint container to facilitate the removal of surplus paint from an overloaded brush. This would result in a clean rim and make the replacement of the paint container cover a cleaner mor rapid operation.
Additionally a handle could be provided at the rear of the device to facilitate the holding of the paint container. A hole in this handle would enable the device to be hung up where storage would be provided for a paint brush.
This invention will be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing of one form of paint brush holder capable of attachment to a paint tin or paint container, made in accordance of the invention.
The following drawing is not intended in any way to be restrictive since modifications to the specific arrangements to be described can be made without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the appendant claims.
The drawing shows three protrusions formed at the lower edge of the device which clip around the upper rim of the paint container, so providing a firm anchorage for the device.
At the upper extremity of the device a fork is arranged so as to engage in the waisted portion of the paint brush handle and so retain it in a near vertical position. This fork would be capable of adjustment to support brush handles of varying sizes.
It will be seen from its construction that the device may readily be fitted to paint containers of varying diameters simply by bending or adjusting the device to the required curvature. A wire passing through holes formed in the device enables it to lie across the mouth of the paint container. A handle is rivetted or otherwise attached to the rear of the device and a hole formed in this enables the device to be hung up when not in use.
The device may be formed from metal or man made materials by stamping, machining, pressing or forming or moulding.
