Abstract

Metal drums.-A metal container is provided with a metal strengthening ring c, Fig. 2, at its end with inwardly projecting parts d and h providing counter pressure surfaces between which a head b is held. The rim of the bodv is bent inwards and welded to the edge of the head, the joint being arranged to be below the top surface of the container. In an alternative shown in Fig. 3, projections d<1>, h<1> on a strengthening ring c' again form counter pressure surfaces on a head b<1>, but the head is held in place by a divided ring l and the rim of the body is welded to the strengthening ring.
