Abstract

A desk top printer stand having a top and two vertical side walls integrally moulded in transparent or translucent plastics. The stand may be associated with a moulded shaped base plate. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Desk top printer stand The invention relates to desk top printer stands particularly for the Epson and similar series computer printers.
In the past the paper and printer were isolated with the printer occupying desk space. My invention is a stand which supports the printer and allows the paper to sit in the space beneath thus saving space.
The invention will now be described with reference to the drawing which shows in Fig. 1 a perspective view of the stand and also by reference to Fig. 2 the stand in association with a base plate. The stand is moulded in one piece clear or smoked piastic material and has two vertical sides (1) and a horizontal top (2) on which the printer is supported. The space (3) accommodates the paper stack which feeds under and round one end of the top surface into the paper feed mechanism of the printer.
One advantage of the stand is that the weight of the printer is taken on its four supports which vertically overly the side supports (1). This arrangement prevents the splaying of the stand sides.
The stand is preferably made of plexiglass which being transparent or translucent allows the operator to readily determine the amount of paper remaining or available.
The stand could be made of metal or integral with the printer. The stand can also be secured to or stand on a base plate (4) of moulded shape and manufactured in the same material. This base plate would serve the function of a paper collecting tray on surface (5). Since the weight of the printer and supporting stand is greater than the maximum weight on the collecting tray the unit will not topple.
The preferred dimensions in centimetres are:- H W D 12-15 35-45 30-38
Claims 1. A desk top printer stand having a top and two sides.
2. A desk top printer stand as in claim 1, wherein the sides and top are integrally moulded in plastics.
3. A desk top printer stand as in claim 2, wherein the plastics is translucent or transparent.
4. A desk top printer stand as in claims 1-3 in association with a moulded shape base plate.
5. A desk top printer stand substantially as described with reference to the drawings.
6. A desk top printer stand in association with a base plate substantially as described with reference to the drawings.
