Abstract
211,906. Williams, A. F., and Marzetti, E. Sept. 2, 1922. Fluid-pressure-actuated hoists with guided platforms; pulley - tackle machines.-In machines provided with a tilting platform which can be brought automatically or otherwise to an inclined position for discharging the load, the load is delivered to either side and the platform is stopped at the desired height and delivery effected automatically at approximately the same moment. The load rests on rollers h mounted in parallel bars f which are pivotally connected to the platform d either by a pin f<1> or pin f<2> depending on the side at which the load is to be delivered. The load carrier is tilted by a rod j<2> attached to a lever j which is moved by hand or by contact with a stop w adjustably mounted on a rod x. The hoisting rope l is attached to multiplying pulleytackle k, k<1> of which the running block k is attached to the piston rod n of a pneumatic cylinder o and the fixed block k' is attached to the framework of the machine. An eye in a tappet arm t attached to the pistonrod n slides between adjustable stops s', s<2> on a spring-controlled rod s. A cam u on the upper end of the rod s controls by means of a roller v a pair of spring latches which normally hold the handle p' of the air supply valve' in open position. When the tappet arm encounters either of the stops s', s<2> the valve is closed, and movement of the platform ceases.
