211,526. Holliday, J. F., and Acres, C. M. Sept. 22, 1922. Grates.-In a travelling furnace grate formed of links jointed to transverse rods, a damaged or broken link is readily replaced by a link of the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2 adapted to engage the link rods bv a transverse movement thereto and to be secured in position bv looking means actuated by such movement. The replacement link 1 is provided with recesses 4 having slots 1<b> in the walls 1<a> to engage the link rods and cams 2 pivoted at 3, the cams being tapered so that they fit tightly in the recesses. When the came are open, the upper parts project into the space to be occupied by the link rods so that, when the link is placed on the link rods, the latter engage the cams and cause them to close and lock the link in position.
