Abstract

Two lengths of tubing are of such cross-sectional dimension as to facilitate one to slide within the other, thus allowing for ease of length adjustment to suit window width. At each end are fitted suitable end caps with appropriately located holes so that when the rail has been threaded through the hem of the curtain, the complete assembly can be easily supported on two right angle hooks previously screwed into the window frame. The tubes are preferably of oval cross section and may be bent to the shape of, e.g., a bay window. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Adjustable rails for net curtains We, the above named inventors, do hereby declare this invention, for which we pray that a patent may be granted to us, and the method of which it is performed, to be particularly described in and by the following statement:- This invention relates to a method and apparatus for hanging net curtains.
The curtain rails consists of two lengths of tubing of such cross section dimension as to facilitate the one to snugly slide within the other, thus allowing for ease of length adjustment to suit window width. At each end are fitted suitably moulded plastic caps with appropriately located holes so that the complete assembly and net curtain net can be easily supported on two metal hooks previously screwed into the window frame.
In the past many methods for hanging net curtains have been used, e.g. string, cane, sticks and rods. Currently in popular domestic use is plastic covered curtain wire. This method for many years has suffered with difficulties we cal all identify with, namely, (a) Difficulty in threading limp wire into curtain hem.
(b) Difficulty in stretching wire on to cup hooks.
(c) Sharp end of wire tearing curtains.
(d) Sagging curtains on limp wire.
(e) Rusting wire causing stains.
This invention eliminates all of these problems.
This invention is particularly useful in hanging net curtains.
Figure 1 is a sketch illustrating the embodiment of the invention, two flat ovel tubes shown in section in Figure 2 are of such dimension and shape as to snugly slide tube 3 into tube 4 to facilitate easy length adjustment.
Plastic moulded caps 2 suitably shaped fit tightly at each end of tubes.
Holes shown in end caps 2 are to hang curtain rail assembly and net curtain onto two metal hooks 5 previously screwed into window frame.
Although in this specification reference has been made only of flat ovel tubing, but of course it embodies all types of cross section shapes, e.g.
square, round, triangular or other irregular shapes.
Claims
1. A hollow tube of flat-oval section, or any other section, constituting one half of the Net Curtain Rail, while the cross-sectional shape of the other half conforms to that of the hollow space enclosed by the first mentioned hollow tube, so that the two tubes when joined together by inserting one into the hollow space of the other, would form the bases of an extensible Net Curtain Rail. To the two ends of the extensible rail, suitably shaped end caps are fit tightly, from which the complete rail and curtain are supported on hooks in the window frame.
2. A rail in accordance with claim 1 is also used to fit Bay-windows by bending the tubing to conform to any shape.
3. An extensible rail substantially as described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
