Abstract

211,338. Hurden, E., and Hurden, A. P. Feb. 10, 1923. Facing slabs and tiles. -Sheet material in imitation of tiling, brickwork, &c., is formed with grooves for the reception of the heads of nails or screws which are afterwards covered with cement, the grooves being shaped to retain the cement. The sheet A of asbestos cement or other suitable material is formed with grooves a in which the heads of nails c are received and covered with cement b. A layer h of tarred felt may be interposed between the material and the support d. The latter may be of concrete in which case the nails are driven into strips of wood let into the concrete. Along edges the sheets may be formed with alternating rabbeted tongues and recesses. The grooves may alternatively be produced by pressing a layer of pieces of suitable shape on a backing. The surface of the grooves may be roughened and the sides may be undercut.
