Description

SPECIFICATION Two cylinder circular knitting machine for knitting hosiery and similar goods The present invention relates to a two cylinder circular knitting machine for knitting hosiery and similar goods, provided with at least two feeds, particularly for reciprocatory knitting, the needle selection being performed by means of jacks, intermediary jacks and gliders, cam means for transferring needles to the upper needle cylinder by intermediary of selection of jacks from the selecting device being arranged in front of one feed.
Two cylinder circular knitting machines for manufacturing hosiery goods, provided with two feeds are known, for knitting goods with Jacquard or pearl patterns, in which needle section is performed by a single patterning drum for both feeds.
Those are mostly machine types, in which knitting of the heel, or possible the toe is performed by reciprocatory movement of one feed only. The selection for feeds is performed by changing the swung out position of selectors intermediate jacks by means of cams. One of the known two cylinder knitting machines performs needle selection into two feeds by distributing intermediate jacks into two height positions on base of jack selection. The machine is provided with only two narrowing fingers for two feeds in reciprocatory knitting. Consequently thereto, the density and stationary stitch cams are situated at two different heights, the necessary arch of the needle cylinder is gained from the active needles in reciprocatory knitting namely on the base of depositing the narrowing fingers at the point of the central cam. This cam system is, however, suitable only for a heel, or possibly toe type knitted only on base of gradual narrowing, without gradual adding of needles. The needle selection for knitting Jacquard or pearl patterns is then adapted to the arrangement of feeds for reciprocatory knitting, namely the arrangement of a triangular transferring cam between the feeds.
The arrangement as specified above cannot be used in machines with four narrowing fingers and a stitch cam, in which conventional heels, or possibly toes are knitted, as the employment of a triangular transferring cam between the neighbouring lowering cams increases the coverage of the needle cylinder arch. Furthermore, the disengagement of sliders without needles between the central cam and the lowering cam by means of intermediate jacks increases the distance of the cams and thus the covered arch of the needle cylinder.
The purpose of the present invention consists in removing the above disadvantages and to constitute a cam system for the selection of pearl, or possibly Jacquard patterns and reciprocatory knitting in two feeds, in which the heel pouch is formed by narrowing and addition of needles.
According to the present invention there is provided two cylinder circular knitting machine for manufacturing hosiery and similar goods, provided with at least two feeds, particularly for reciprocatory knitting, in which the needle selection is performed by means of jacks, intermediate jacks and sliders, and in which cam means for transferring needles to the upper needle cylinder by intermediary of selecting jacks from a selecting device are arranged in front of one feed, wherein in front of the other feed and in front of a radially approachable pressbutton within the path of the lower ends of not raised intermediate jacks, a radially approachable rising cam for raising the intermediate jacks is arranged within the path of the butts of not raised intermediate jacks in such manner, that their lower ends get into the area of action of a further pressbutton mounted above the said radially approachable pressbutton, while the above mentioned cam elements are arranged in front of the rising edge of the swung out upper ends of intermediate jacks, which is arranged between the left and the right stitch cam of the feeds.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing, which shows a cam system of a two feed knitting machine.
A known two cylinder circular knitting machine for manufacturing hosiery goods in provided with two feeds, which also perform knitting by reciprocatory movement. The machine is provided with an upper needle cylinder (not represented) and a lower needle cylinder, in the trick of which are deposited jacks 1, intermediate jacks 2, sliders 3 and not represented double hook needles.
Within the path of the upper butts 3a of sliders 3 are arranged stitch cams 4 and 5 and the central cam 6 of the first feed, as well as stitch cams 7, 8 and the central cam 9 of the second feed. In front of the said stitch cams 4, 5, 7, 8 are arranged in a known manner narrowing fingers (not represented). Furthermore, in front of the first feed are a radially approachable lowering cam 10 and rising cam 11, as well as stationary rising cams 12, 13 and 14. Below rising cam 12, a stationary guard cam 1 5 is arranged.
Within the path of the lower butts 3b of sliders 3, a radially approachable shifter 1 6 is arranged.
The other cams do not relate to the present invention, and therefore are not denoted.
Within the path of the intermediate jacks 2,, in front of the first feed, a radially approachable displacing cam 17, a stationary rising cam 1 8 and a movable rising cam 1 9 for the purpose of transferring the needles to the upper needle cylinder are arranged. Behind them, lowering cams 20 and 21 are arranged. In front of the second feed, or possibly below lowering cam 21, a radially approachable rising cam 22 is arranged for the purpose of lifting intermediate jacks 2 from the non-selected position to a higher position, in which their lower ends 2a come into the area of action of stationary pressbutton 23. Below said stationary pressbutton 23, a radially approachable pressbutton for acting upon the lower ends 2a of intermediate jacks 2 is arranged, which were not raised by the rising cam 22.The said pressbuttons 23 and 24 are continued by rising edge 25 of cam 25 for raising the swung out upper ends 2b of intermediate jacks 2, said edge being arranged between the left stitch cam 4 of the first feed and the right stitch cam 8 of the second feed. The height of the rising edge 25 corresponds to the raising of the lowered slider 3 into the clearing position. Furthermore, a lowering edge 27 is made on cam 26. Below the rising cam 13, a lowering cam 28 is situated within the path of intermediate jacks.
Within the path of jacks 1, in front of the first feed, a set of pressbuttons 29 is arranged for the purpose of acting upon the patterning butts of jacks 1, said set being controlled by means of a known patterning drum (not represented). Below the set of pressbuttons 29, within the path of lower butts 1 a of jacks 1, cam 30 with a cancel key 31 and a pressbutton 31, which acts upon the lower ends 1 b of jacks 1, is arranged. During knitting or possibly upon selecting Jacquard patterns, cam 30 is made without an ascension in such manner, as represented in full lines. For the purpose of knitting pearly patterns, cam 30 is provided with an ascension 32, which is represented in dashed lines. This ascension 32 is arranged below the displacing cam 1 7.
Furthermore, cam 33 is arranged within the path of lower butts 1 a of jacks 1, said cam being provided for knitting Jacquard patterns with an ascension 34, which raises the selected jacks 1 to a height equalling the difference of the height position of pressbuttons 23 and 24, and which is situated in front of said pressbuttons 23, or possibly 24. For knitting pearl patterns, cam 33 is made without ascension 34 and its shape is represented by a dashed line. Behind cam 33, cam 35 with cancel key 36 and pressbuttons 36' is mounted, which is further provided with ascension 37, which in turn is situated in front of rising cam 13, which continues its path.In front of ascension 37, cancel key 38 is arranged at a height equalling to the path of lower butts 1 a of jacks 1 raised by ascension 34 and then lowered by lowering edge 44, this being higher than the lower position of jacks 1. Within the path of upper butts 1 c of jacks 1, cam 39 with lowering edge 40, cam 41 with lowering edge 42 and cam 43 with lowering edge 44 are mounted, which lower the jacks 1 to a level at which the lower butts 1 a are at a height position equalling to that of pressbuttons 38.
The cam system as specified above operates as follows: When knitting Jacquard patterns, rising cam 11 and displacing cam 1 7 are disengaged. Rising cam 22 is engaged in such manner, that each second intermediate jack 2 is raised which corresponds to the needles knitting in the upper needle cylinder.
Pressbutton 24 is disengaged. Cam 33 is applied with ascension 31. Cancel keys 36 and 31 are disengaged.
The jacks 1 are distributed by means of the patterning by intermediary of the set of pressbuttons 29 into selected ones, i.e. remaining outside, and non-selected ones, i.e. those pressed into the tracks of the needle cylinder. In front of ascension 34, all jacks 1 move in their lower position, i.e. the lower butts 1 a within path A.
The selected jacks 1 are raised to path B by ascension 34. Thus, the appurtenant intermediate jacks 2, or possibly their butts 2c are simultaneously raised from the lower path C by path C to the higher path D. Consequently, their lower ends 2a are pressed by pressbutton 23 inside, while the upper ends 2b are swung out and engaged with the rising edge 25. Then, the intermediate jacks 2 are raised, as shown in path E of the upper ends 2b and then lowered by lowering edge 27, as follows from the course of path D. The appurtenant sliders 3 are then also raised, as visible from path F of upper butts 3a.
and pass over the cams of the second feed, while the appurtenant needles make loops.
The non-selected jacks 1 are not raised by ascension 34. The appurtenant intermediate jacks 2 pass further along path C and the appurtenant sliders 3 are not swung out and raised. Thus, their upper butts 3a pass along path G and the appurtenant needles in the second feed do not perform any knitting operation.
In the further course, the selected jacks 1 are partially lowered by lowering edge 44 acting upon the upper butts 1 c, as visible on path B' of the upper butts 1 c, and move continuously in a raised position which corresponds to path B, as far as pressbutton 38, which presses the lower butts 1 a of jacks 1 into the tricks. Ascention 37 does not raise the lower butts 1 a, thus also the appurtenant intermediate jacks 2 and sliders 3 are not raised, as can be observed from the course of paths C and G of butts 2c and upper butts 3a. The appurtenant needles which performed the knitting operation in the second feed, are not raised into the first feed and do not form loops there.
The non-selected jacks 1 , or possibly their lower butts 1 a are pressed behind ascension 34 by action of pressbuttons 36 upon the lower ends 1 b, out of the needle cylirder tricks, and thereupon raised by ascension 37 as visible from the course of path A. Simultaneously, the appurtenant intermediate jacks 2 are raised along path H, and raise themselves the sliders 3, or possibly the upper butts 3a from path G to path J.
As visible from the course of the latter, the sliders 3, or possibly the needles which did nct perform any knitting operation in the second feed, pass through the first feed and form loops. Behind ascension 37, all jacks 1 are lowered by lowering edge 40 back to their basic position, which equals to path A. By pressbutton 31', the jacks 1, or possibly the patterning butts are swung out into the active region of the pressbutton set 29, and selection is repeated. Also the intermediate jacks 2 are lowered back by cam 28 to the not raised intermediate jacks into path C.
Upon knitting pearl patterns, rising cam 11, displacing cam 1 7 and rising cam 22 are disengaged, while pressbutton 24 is engaged.
Furthermore, cam 33 is used without ascension 32. The cancel key 31 is disengaged and cancel key 36 is engaged. On the patterning drum, a repeat is set out in accordance with pearl patterns.
The patterning drum distributes the ,acks 1 in a similar manner, as in the preceding case, into selected and non-selected ones. By ascension 32, the lower butts 1 a of the selected jacks 1 are raised from path A along path K. The raised jacks 1 raise the butts 2c of the appurtenant intermediate jacks 2 from path C along path L into the active area of rising cam 18, and the intermediate jacks 2 are raised further by rising cam 19.
Behind the second feed, all sliders 3 are raised by means of the engaged shifter 1 6, their upper butts 3a thus being raised from path G into path M, from which they pass over to path J.
The raised intermediate jacks 2 act upon the appurtenant sliders 3 by path L and raise them into the changeover position, as visible from the course of the upper butts 3a raised from path J by path N. The appurtenant needles are transferred in a known manner to the sliders of the upper needle cylinder, forming there pearl loops in both feeds.
The empty guiding sinkers 3 are then lowered back by sinker cam 10 between the sliders 3 with needles, and pass through the first feed, in which rib loops are formed by the needles.
Behind ascension 32, the selected jacks 1 are lowered by intermediary of the upper butts ic back to the original level, as visible from the course of path K, or possibly K. In the same manner, the raised intermediate jacks 2 are lowered by lowering cams 20 and 21,so that their butts 2c pass over to path D. Their lower ends 2a are then pressed automatically by pressbutton 23 into the tricks and their upper ends 2b become suspended in path E on rising edge 25, raised thereby, and thus raising themselves the appurtenant sliders 3 against the needles in the upper needle cylinder.
The non-selected jacks 1 behind ascension 32, and also the appurtenant intermediate jacks 2 pass in the lower positions, or possibly on the level of paths A and C. The lower ends 2a of the not raised intermediate jacks 2 are pressed inside by pressbutton 24, thus the upper ends 2b following the lower path E' are suspended on the rising edge 25 and raised. Simultaneously, also the appurtenant sliders 3 with needles are raised, i.e.
the upper butts 3a along path F, thus passing also through the second feed, forming rib loops there.
Further, the intermediate jacks 2 are lowered by the lowering edge. All jacks 1 are swung out then by press-button 36' and pressed back by the cancel key 36 into the needle cylinder tricks in such manner, as not to be raised by ascension 37.
All jacks 1 are swung out from the cylinder by pressbutton 46 into the active area of the pressbutton set 29 again, and the selection is repeated in the manner as specified above.
