Abstract
A window display pricing ticket comprises a back support panel 1 of rigid plastics material which has printed thereon display matter 2. Also applied to the panel 1 is a pricing component 3 which is of a soft PVC material thus being removable and replacable by virtue of its coherence. The face of the panel 1 is overlaid with a further panel 4 of clear plastics material having printed thereon areas 6 and 7 of display matter arranged so that the matter 2 or component 3 can be viewed therethrough. The panels 1, 4 may be held by a holder 8 or a supermarket shelf pricing assembly. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Improvements in price tickets
This invention relates to price ticket asemblies made up from two or more component parts which cooperate to form the complete ticket display.
One object of this invention is to provide a ticket assembly wherein matter displayed on a backing part may be supplemented by the first part carrying or bearing a front part carrying further matter which may be readily changeable.
According to this invention there is provided a price ticket assembly comprising a back support panel, one or more zones of said panel having printed thereon or attached thereto first display matter, and a front overlay panel detachably secured to the back support panel and including transparent zones aligned with the zones of the back support panel whereby the first display matter may be viewed therethrough, and further having printed thereon second display matter in second zones in non-maskable relationship to the zones of the back support panel, and securing means associated with the back support panel to engage opposed marginal edge portions of the overlay panel.
In a preferred embodiment the back support panel is retained in a holder having parallel opposed channels which engage the edge portions of both the support panel and overlay panel thus forming the securing means. The holder may extend the whole length of the back panel or only a short length thereof. The support panel will preferably carry pricing or other information on soft PVC components which self-cling to the panel which will have polished surface.
The support panel may comprise a relatively thin sheet material such as so-called "Plastipaper" (a Trade Mark) which is supported on a further more rigid panel at the rear. The overlay may include opaque areas carrying designs or Trade Marks which may be readily attached to the support panel without changing the components such as pricing thereon.
Different establishments may thus use the basic support panel assemblies and then apply their own overlay. The overlay may be used to carry a seasonal message without alteration to the basic pricing information carried on the support panel.
Because the support panel can have regions thereof masked in a simple manner by the overlay the support panel may comprise a setting panel such as that as described in my unpublished application GB8039298 the setting information thereon being easily obscured by appropriate design of the overlay boundaries.
This invention thus provides a ticket with the basic information carried by the rear support panel using stickers or self-ciing components with the overlay having other more general matter which can be changed from day-to-day without total break-up of the background information on the support panel.
The invention is more specifically described in conjunction with two embodiments shown by way of example in the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 shows a first embodiment applied to a butchery style of ticket assembly, and
Figure 2 shows a second embodiment applied to a supermarket shelf pricing assembly.
Referring to Fig. 1 of the drawings this shows a pricing ticket comprising a back support panel 1 of rigid plastics material which has printed thereon at 2 display matter.
The panel also has attached thereto a component 3 of soft PVC material which may be removed and replaced to denote price for example. The face of the support panel 1 is overlaid with a panel 4 of clear plastics material, coloured material could be used, which has areas of display matter 6 and 7 arranged so as not to mask the printed matter 2 or component 3 on the rear support panel.
The printed matter on the overlay panel can be changed by simply replacing the panel without the necessity to alter or remove the pricing information.
The support panel has a holder 8 with channels at the edges serving to retain both the back support panel and the overlay panel, the holder further including a spike 9.
The advantage of this arrangement is that the basic pricing information on the rear support panel can be left whilst appropriate message can be varied readily by replacing the front overlay only.
A further embodiment of the invention is shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings wherein the rear support panel 1 comprises a resilient strip carrying printed matter 2 and components 3 as before. The overlay 4 also comprises a strip of clear material with a display area 6 carrying an appropriate message. The two panels are retained between the opposed jaws of a rigid holder 10. Here again the overlay can be changed quickly without disturbing the pricing information.
1. A price ticket comprising a back support panel, one or more zones of said panel having printed thereon or attached thereto first display matter, and a front overlay panel detachably secured to the back support panel and including transparent zones aligned with the zones of the back support panel whereby the first display matter may be viewed therethrough, and further having printed thereon second display matter in second zones in nonmaskable relationship to the zones of of the back support panel, and securing means asso
