Lateral-splash guards for road vehicles, of the kind wherein the screen is supported by telescopic tubes g, h carried by lugs e upon a collar d on the wheel hub a, have the tubes hinged at f to swing in a plane at right-angles to the wheel. The lower tubes h are slotted at i to engage with a cross-pin in each upper tube, g within which is arranged a compression spring k. The hinges f permit the tubes and screen to swing towards the wheel but prevent them from swinging outwardly beyond the vertical position.
