Abstract

Semi-mounted reversible ploughs which are several metres long and are provided with a supporting wheel, which takes part in carrying the plough frame 5, and with a stabiliser 11, which extends parallel to the supporting frame, can follow the tractor vehicle without any difficulties, even in sharp bends, since the plough frame 5 is connected to the plough fore-carriage 1, or rather the rotary arm 2, by means of a swivel head provided with a locatable rotary joint 16. Expediently, provision may be made, in addition to the rotary joint 16 in the swivel head, for another joint 15 which is transverse to the rotary joint and allows a favourable width adjustment of the plough frame. Locking bolts provided with a compression spring or detents or the like can be used for locating the rotary joint in position. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Semi-mounted reversible plough The invention relates to a semi-mounted reversible plough comprising at least one supporting wheel, which takes part in carrying the plough frame, and a stabiliser which is articulatedly provided between the plough fore-carriage and the supporting frame of the supporting wheel.
Such semi-mounted reversible ploughs have upto 7 and more plough-body pairs, which are connected to a plough frame which is preferably formed by a straight continuous rectangular tube. The plough frame is connected to the tractor vehicle by means of the plough fore-carriage and, in the case of the known semi-mounted reversible ploughs (DE OS 28 50 118.0 and GB PS 13 19 957), forcibly carries out the movements imparted thereto by the tractor vehicle. The rigid connection thereof to the plough fore-carriage and to the tractor vehicle respectively has the advantage that the plough can be easily manoeuvred and brought into the new working position on a relatively small headland. However, it is disadvantageous that when being driven on approach roads and thoroughfares the plough participates in the movements of the tractor vehicle and for this reason prescribes thereto a relatively large turning circle.
There are already known semi-mounted reversible ploughs (DE AS 22 10 410) where a swivel shaft is provided on the plough fore-carriage so that the plough frame is connected to the plough forecarriage in such a way that it can be swivelled through up to 90 . However, such constructions are only known in respect of semi-mounted ploughs and semi-mounted reversible ploughs which are provided with considerable additions, turning on the headland also being rendered extremely difficult for semi-mounted reversible ploughs provided with the additions because whenever reverse driving is effected the plough frame attempts to jack-knife, which can only be compensated for to some extent by skilful counter-steering.
The task underlying the invention is to provide a semi-mounted reversible plough which, even if it is equipped with 5 and more plough-body pairs, has a turning circle that is small and proportionate to the turning circle of the tractor vehicle and which, at the same time, has the advantages of the rigidly connected semi-mounted reversible plough.
According to the invention, the problem is solved in that the plough frame comprises a swivel head with a rotary joint which is designed so as to be locatable in position.
The transport of a semi-mounted reversible plough of such a design is considerably facilitated in that the plough frame can swivel around the rotary joint so that the tractor vehicle and the semimounted reversible plough have a turning circle that corresponds to the turning circle of the tractor vehicle. On the other hand, by rigidifying and locating this rotary joint in position for the working position of the semi-mounted reversible plough, it is possible to provide a semi-mounted reversible plough which can be easily and advantageously handled on the headland.
In order, at the same time, to ensure that the supporting wheel will run satisfactorily so as to attain the described narrow turning circle, provision has been made according to the invention for the wheel rotary joint also to be locatable in position on the supporting frame, the rotary joint being free in the transport position of the plough frame and the wheel rotary joint being located in position. Conversely, in the working position, the rotary joint is accordingly located in position and the wheel rotary joint is free so that the supporting wheel can act satisfactorily as a tail wheel.
In a special constructional form of the semimounted reversible plough according to the invention, the swivel head additionally comprises, according to the invention, a joint which is arranged transversely to the rotary joint. In the semi-rotated position of the plough frame, the rotary joint is approximately vertical and the joint is horizontal. In the transport position, the plough frame can thus swing around the rotary joint, which is not located in position.
A particularly expedient design is given to this end in that the swivel head has two opposite forks, the fork ends of which are provided in planes which are vertical to each other. Apart from the fact that such a swivel head allows the semi-mounted reversible plough according to the invention to be manufactured virtually without any further additional elements and modifications, such a swivel head presents the advantage of a satisfactory and always identical arrangement of the joints and consequently of always the same position of the plough frame.
An expedient development of the invention teaches how the rotary joint is locatable in position.
According thereto, provision is made for one fork end of the fork embracing the plough frame to be extended and to carry, at its free end, a locking bolt which is to be connected to the plough frame. The plough frame can be so secured in position by means of this locking bolt that it cannot swing around the rotary joint and thus directly has to follow the movements imparted by the tractor vehicle. By this means, there is provided a connection between the plough and the tractor vehicle that is expedientforworking on the headland and during ploughing.
A reliable engagement of the locking bolt is brought about in that the locking bolt is loaded by means of a compression spring which is provided in a spring housing. When reaching the hole or bore in the plough frame, the locking bolt is automatically pressed into this hole by the compression spring and is locked therein. Only when the compression spring is released or loaded can the locking bolt be removed from the hole and the rotary joint thus be released. For this purpose, it is expedient that the locking bolt should have a handle which can be pivoted, guided with the aid of notches, on a bevel formed on the spring housing. The bevel facilitates the removal of the locking bolt against the spring force and the notches predetermine the respective end position in the engaged or released position.
The engagement of the locking bolt in the hole provided in the plough frame is facilitated in that there is secured on top of the plough frame a locking part which has a bore provided for the reception of the locking bolt and abutment bevels. Such a locking part can be mounted in a simple manner and facilitates the manipulation of the locking operation.
In order to prevent the ploughframefrom swinging out too far behind the tractor vehicle during the transport thereof, the swivel range of the locatable rotary joint is limited according to the invention. This limitation is brought about, for example, in that there is hinged to the extended fork end a slotted member in which a cam arranged on the plough frame is guided. The swivel range of the locatable rotary joint is expediently set to a swivel angle of 40 to 50 . Such a pre-setting is sufficient for a transport such as is usual.
According to the invention, the supporting wheel is also designed so as to be rigidifiable and locatable. It is advantageous to design the carrying fork of the supporting wheel so that it can be located by means of a locking device on the supporting frame, the locking device itself being similar to or identical with the locking device on the plough frame. The setting is chosen to be such that the user can find out at once whether the locking device is in the correct position.
The invention is particularly distinguished in that there is provided a semi-mounted reversible plough which can be satisfactorily used simultaneously in the field in any position and during transport on the approach lanes and roads and which always has the optimum position with respect to the tractor vehicle.
It is furthermore advantageous that a semi-mounted reversible plough of normal construction can be used for this purpose, to which only a few parts, particularly locking parts, have to be added. The additional expenditure is kept within limits. The advance in the art is outstanding.
Further details and advantages of the subject matter of the invention will be explained in the following description of the figures given in the drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows a top view of a semi-mounted reversible plough in the working position, Figure 2 shows a top view of the swivel head connecting the plough frame and the plough forecarriage, Figure 3 shows a bottom view of the swivel head, Figure 4 shows a section through the plough t. ame in the locking device zone, Figure 5 shows the supporting wheel in a top view, Figure 6 shows the supporting wheel in a head front view, and Figure 7 shows a different constructional form of the semi-mounted reversible plough with the rotary joint in the working position.
The semi-mounted reversible plough shown in Figure 1 is connected by means of the plough fore-carriage 1 to the link rods (not shown) of the three-point linkage of the tractor vehicle. The plough fore-carriage 1 is connected by means of the rotary arm 2 to the plough frame 5, to which various plough bodies 4 are attached. The plough frame 5, for its part, is connected, approximately in the centre, to the supporting frame 8 of the supporting wheel 9 by means of the bracket 6 and the bearing 7. The supporting wheel 9 is carried in the carrying fork 10, while the supporting frame 8, for its part, is connected in the zone of the bearing 7, by means of a stabiliser 11 to the universal joint 12 in the zone of the plough fore-carriage 1. A similar universal joint is expediently provided in the zone of the bearing 7.
The plough fore-carriage 1, or rather the rotary arm 2, and the plough frame 5 are connected by means of the joint 15, there being provided directly therebehind a rotary joint 16 which is vertical thereto. This rotary joint 16 can be located in position by means of the locking device 17, which will be explained in more detail with the aid of the following figures. The wheel rotary joint 18 of the supporting wheel 9 can be located in similar manner by means of the locking device 19.
Figure 2 shows the connection between the plough fore-carriage 1 and the plough frame 5 in a cut-out and with the two joints 15, 16 which are at right angles to each other. In the example shown, this zone is designed as a swivel head 21 which comprises two forks 22, 23, the fork ends 24, 25 and 26, 27 of which are arranged in two different planes which are at right angles to each other. While the fork ends 26, 27 embrace the rotary arm 2, the fork ends 24, 25 embrace the plough frame 5 and simultaneously hold the pin of the rotary joint 16. In the working position, the joint 15 is approximately in a vertical position, while during transport the pin of the rotary joint 16 is approximately vertical.
The rigidification of the rotary joint 16 is brought about in that the locking bolt 29 provided and formed at the free end 28 is rotated into the engaged position. For this purpose there serves the handle 30 which is attached to the locking bolt 29 proper at a right angle. The locking bolt 29 penetrates the spring housing 31 and is loaded by means of the compression spring 32. The removal of the locking bolt 29 against the force exerted by the compression spring 32 is facilitated by means of the bevel 33 on the ccover of the spring housing 31. The handle engages in the respective end position in notches.
To the free end 28 of the fork end 25 there is hinged a slotted member 36, which is rotatable around the bolt 37 and has a longitudinal slot which is expediently so dimensioned that there comes about a swivel angle of 40 to 50C. In this slotted member 36 there is guided the cam 38 which, whenever it reaches the end positions in the slotted member, comes to rest there and prevents the plough frame 5 from being swivelled further.
In order to facilitate the engaging process of the locking bolt 29, a locking part 40 is provided on the plough frame, as emerges from Figures 2 and 3 and, in particular, Figure 4. In this lockkng part, there is provided a bore 41 and, at the sides, abutment bevels 42, 43, over which the locking bolt 29 is guided upwards during the engagement process and is introduced into the bore 41.
Figure 3 shows a bottom view, which clearly illustrates that the arrangement of the locking device 17 is expediently provided beneath the plough frame 5 because provision has been made for the body blades 49 to be secured to the top of the plough frame 5.
Figures 5 and 6 show details of the supporting wheel 9 which, as usual, is carried in the carrying fork 10 and can be swivelled around the wheel rotary joint 18 and is held by the supporting frame 8. In order to carry the supporting wheel 9 during the transport of the semi-mounted reversible plough, provision has been made, laterally of the wheel rotary joint 18, for another locking device 19. This locking device 19 is comparable to the locking device 17 ofthe rotary joint 16 and also comprises a locking bolt 46 with a handle. The locking parts are designated 47, while 45 is the axle around which the supporting wheel 9 rotates.
Figure 7 shows a semi-mounted reversible plough where the plough frame 5, which is provided with the plough bodies 4, is connected to the connecting arm 50 by means of the rotary joint 16. Here, too, the rotary joint 16 is so designed and arranged that it is approximately vertical when the plough frame 5 is in the half-rotated position so that, when the locking device 17 released, the plough frame 5 can swing around the rotary joint 16. The stabiliser 11' is connected to the bracket 6', which is articulatedly arranged on the plough frame 5, by means of a ball-and-socket joint. The stabiliser 11' carries at its rear end the supporting frame 8 of the supporting wheel 9.
